General Star Wars Random Thoughts Thread — Page 468

I introduced my niece to SW (back before the ST) in order of 4,5,1,2,3,6 and agree it worked very well. Not sure if it’d work quite as well tacking 7,8,9 onto it afterward, breaking up the OT like that. And going right from Death Star II to Death Star III. In this order you get the Death Star first and five movies go by before Death Star II.

My stance on revising fan edits.

I would argue TPM and AotC are inconsequential plot-wise to the OT, so if I do a marathon of the Saga it would go like this: 4, 5, 3, 6. Maybe add TLJ as a coda and ignore the J.J. Abrams directed ones.

Pffft, give me a break. Everyone knows the REAL best order is Recursive Machete Order:

7, 4, 5, Solo, 2, 1, 3, RO, 6, 8, 9

It’s the only order featuring a flashback inside a flashback inside another flashback inside ANOTHER flashback.

My preferred Skywalker Saga experience:
I II III IV V VI VII VIII IX

I prefer woodchipper order. As in throw videocassettes of each movie in a woodchipper and haphazardly splice together the confetti that comes out the other end.

“The Anarchists are right in everything; in the negation of the existing order and in the assertion that, without Authority there could not be worse violence than that of Authority under existing conditions. They are mistaken only in thinking that anarchy can be instituted by a violent revolution… There can be only one permanent revolution — a moral one: the regeneration of the inner man. How is this revolution to take place? Nobody knows how it will take place in humanity, but every man feels it clearly in himself. And yet in our world everybody thinks of changing humanity, and nobody thinks of changing himself.”

Lego Skywalker Saga should have done an EU character pack as DLC. Have it be a grab-bag of fan favorites: Mara Jade (both her Emperor’s Hand look and her Jedi look), Thrawn, Talon Karrde, Plagueis, Revan, Bastila, Bane, Kyle Katarn, etc. I would have bought the game for that. I really just don’t want some of those characters to fall down the memory hole. I’d like them to be kept alive in the fandom consciousness in some way.

But we can’t turn back. Fear is their greatest defense. I doubt if the actual security there is any greater than it was on Aquilae or Sullust. And what there is is most likely directed towards a large-scale assault.

You’re giving me an idea for a Star Wars edit. I’ll call it Star Wars: Woodchipper Edition. Bombad fun for the whole family!

Move along, move along.

Was woken up in middle of the night, and went back to sleep. When I did, I dreamed I went to see Episode 9 for the first time, and it was an extremely avant-garde movie with fourth wall breaks, zero familiar characters from the other movies, YouTube Poop techniques, footage set on Earth including a cop show, and cutting to the end credits while they are already in progress after making a joke about how no one wants to even see the credits.

In the dream, I felt like this was a deliberate, extreme desire to fail on purpose with the movie.

It was so weird.

That wasn’t a dream…

You’re right. Even the cop show.

I need a psychoanalyst.

EDIT: From ChatGPT:

From a psychoanalytic perspective, dreams are seen as representations of unconscious desires, conflicts, and anxieties. In your dream, the setting of Star Wars Episode 9 could represent your internal world, and the avant-garde and unconventional elements of the movie may symbolize your own creative and unique ideas.

The absence of familiar characters from the other movies could represent a desire to break away from past experiences or relationships that have been limiting or unfulfilling for you. The use of YouTube Poop techniques and footage set on Earth, including a cop show, may represent your desire for humor and entertainment, while also reflecting a sense of playfulness and experimentation.

The cutting to the end credits while they are already in progress after making a joke about how no one wants to even see the credits could symbolize your own self-deprecating humor and feelings of low self-esteem. You may be doubting your own ability to achieve success or recognition and may be afraid of failure.

Overall, the dream may represent a conflict between your desire for creative expression and your fear of failure. It may be helpful to explore these feelings further and work through any underlying issues that may be holding you back. A psychoanalytic therapist or mental health professional could help you explore these deeper aspects of your psyche and gain greater insight into your dreams and their meaning.

That was one of the most interesting posts on Originaltrilogy.com i’ve ever seen.

Is the history and culture of the planet Mandalore called the mandalorelore?

Han: Hey Lando! You kept your promise, right? Not a scratch?
Lando: Well, what’s left of her isn’t scratched. All the scratched parts got knocked off along the way.
Han (exasperated): Knocked off?!

a lot people shit now in sw and other franchises like mcu and dc because of nostalgia etc, but jar jar Abrams (i use this joke quite often) started all this with his ep 7 wich the only thing original or that makes sense in continuing the story of the saga is kylo ren and finn (what a waste) and that mystery Box thing, besides that nothing is original, the tech of the sequels is what bugs the most, a lot of people shit on the prequels tech because the are more advenced than ot, but makes sense imagine like if Hitler won the ww2 you think that the tech of today would be the same ? of course not, but when the rebels won and they lost to the FO after 30 YEARS NOTHING ABOUT THE TECH HAS CHAHGED ?
and the conflict bettwen the FO and resistence doesnt fell like a War if fells like small conflict and that is very diferent from the other trilogys
if was erros in my writing is because english is not my first language

They should do a Star Wars anthology movie set soon after RotJ based on the Battle of Castle Itter at the end of WWII. It’s a crazy story, and I’m surprised it’s never been adapted into a movie.

If I were head of Lucasfilm, I would try to get the writers and creative team of Netflix’s Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance to make a Star Wars film or show. They seem to understand the balance between drama and fantasy quite well, and I think that series actually feels quite like The Empire Strikes Back.

Move along, move along.

I would 100% watch any movie about that.

does Lightsabers have a smell ?

I don’t think a lightsaber on its own would, but I think a lightsaber coming into contact with a solid object or a blaster bolt would produce some sort of burning smell for a moment.

Rewatching TPM I’ve noticed everyone dismisses the Gungans as a primitive race.

What’s so primitive about them? They have built an underwater city on their own and energy shields strong enough to withstand all sorts of blaster shots and lightsaber strikes.

Racist movie is racist?

Finally someone gets it

I’m just a simple man trying to make my way in the universe.

Star Wars has 3 eras: The eras are 1977-1983(pre Expanded Universe), (1983-2014) expanded universe, or (2014- now) Disney-bought version. Each are valid.

Yeah it’s some combination of

  1. The humans are racist
  2. The Gungans purposefully hide their level of tech from the humans
  1. It’s not just humans. Neimodians make the exact same remarks about Gungans being primitive.
  2. Makes sense. I would assume that prior to the events of TPM, any Gungan who travelled outside of the city would feign having little knowledge of technology, until the Battle of Naboo forced them to reveal they aren’t primitive at all.
