I was listening to the Jedi soundtrack the other day, and I thought, “wouldn’t it be kind of quirky if we heard the soundtrack version of Lapti Nek playing in a bar or on the radio in a future Star Wars movie?” Like a polished, studio cover of the cult Max Rebo Band hit.

Not a movie, but they did that in Battlefront II way back whenever that was. It played somewhere in Mos Eisley. There’s nothing as great in that game as slaughtering your enemies left and right to the sound of Lapti Nek.

That’s definitely on my list of easter eggs and things to include if I’m ever in charge of a Star Wars movie.

Also on the list:

  • Jaxxon
  • Fake-out starfield at the opening (starfield not actually being a starfield, but something like this, as I almost thought might happen in TFA upon watching the trailer:

)

One of my prequel scripts had the opening shot pan down from a ‘vast sea of lights’ onto a dark underground lake, with the bioluminescent algae from above reflected in its waters.

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

Idk why people are worried about Luke dying in future movies. If they kill Luke in TLJ (or later), they’ll surely Force Ghost him and he’ll still be there, just bluer and less opaque.

I’m sure for some it would be nice to see Luke Skywalker: Jedi Knight.

For me, the Star Wars universe has become so much more than Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Darth Vader so as long as the story is good I’m ok with whatever they decide. I think.

The Jedi are all but extinct.......

I’d be more amenable to the idea of Luke dying if we hadn’t lost Han in TFA and Carrie in real life. It will be a huge bummer if the ST ends up with my childhood heroes getting bumped off one by one. Someone from the original big three ought to make it out alive, and it looks like that’s going to have to be Luke.

I think Chewie is probably safe, (since they don’t want another Vector Prime fan backlash on their hands) and the droids have to be around through the end, because that’s always been part of George’s original plan.

So was, supposedly, the praxis effect.

Heh. I mean it was one thing George hasn’t changed his tune on over the years.

If only there were some way to bring back Han. I guess the closest thing would be a newly filmed flashback but that’s not really quite the way I’d want to see him back. I miss the character and we only got him for one movie.

Hmmm, how about a Star Wars Evil Dead mashup movie. Ash accidentally opens a recording of the ‘Sith Necronomicon’ and all the characters that died came back to ‘life’. Instead of trying to survive the woods, they have to survive, the galaxy. You replace Deadites with Jedites & Sithites. Part of the movie would have to take place on Dagobah.

So ash someone kills Jedis. Talk about suspension of disbelief.

Hehe, well, Ash has dealt with a lot of characters in the trilogy and TV series. He also meets some of the Star Wars characters. Maybe he inadvertently stumbles upon a super secret Jedi Temple. It’s in that Temple where he finds the ‘Sith Necronomicon’.

Shouldn’t it be a Necroholocron?

Well, I was thinking it would be an audio recording of the book, just like in the original Evil Dead. So, in this case, it wouldn’t really work.

Yeah, the droids were always meant to be in every saga film. Now I can see them just doing R2-D2, as Anthony Daniels is getting older and they will probably go with 10,11,12 in 10-15 years.

It seems like people are really embracing the new characters. In fact, the big question people ask me now about Star Wars is, “Are Finn and Poe gay lovers?” And really how the f*ck would I know? My second husband left me for a man, so my gaydar isn’t exactly what you’d call Death Star level quality. ----Carrie Fisher

Well, anthony don’t have to do the character, he can just do voiceovers.

Even though R2 and C-3PO have been in Episodes 1-7, the purpose of using them as the audience point of view only really existed in the OT. The PT and TFA have mostly relegated them to the role of ‘lighthearted banter’. I see BB-8 fulfilling the audience POV role much more than the duo going forward.

the vii crawl score performance and recording is inferior to that of Empire Strikes Back, my favorite of the original trilogy.

Timothy Zahn had some interesting things to say about the decor of Talon Karrde’s base in the Thrawn trilogy:

I read mythology voraciously when I was a child, and my favorites were the Norse myths. This one is straight out of the Siegfried legend— all we’re missing is a sword stuck in the tree.

Like this one?

“That Darth Vader, man. Sure does love eating Jedi.”

Was telling someone tonight how I wanted to catch Rogue One one more time on the big screen before it leaves theaters, and the Princess Leia theme began playing on the classical radio station we were listening to in the car. I love it when that sort of thing happens. 😃

Honestly, it sounds almost like a mixing problem, especially at the beginning, as if some of the auxiliary horns are muted.

The TFA Crawl colours and sound still feel weird to me. Maybe the typeface is slightly wrong?

I rewatched X-Men: Days of Future Past last night, and now I’m envisioning a perfect universe where McAvoy and Fasbender were cast as a Young Obi Wan and Vader respectively. Their dynamic in that film (and First Class before it) is exactly what I’d expect from a backstory to Star Wars.

TFA uses the same title font as A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back. Return of the Jedi used a different font that they used throughout the prequels. The R’s are the biggest clues.

The color is fine. The theme recording does sound different.
