Great or not, I’m just not interested in it. I feel about as apathetic about Star Wars as I did about the Carrie remake. Which is really sad but I guess it just proves to me that I was never a Star Wars fan, just a fan of three specific movies.

Right there with you. This has only increased as more movies have come out. TFA was great, but doesn’t do enough to warrant classic-status. Rogue One irritated me. Neither of them are bad enough to skip in a marathon, like the prequels are. I expect I’ll feel similarly about the others.

Han Solo movie? Lol no. Can’t stand contemporary pretty-boy actors. (Even reformed stormtrooper guy in TFA was a little hard to take.)

I generally feel the same way. Someone said hating everything contemporary is a miserable way to live life; they’re probably right. Being surrounded by contemporary-minded people in a contemporary world and hating contemporary things won’t work out for long. But, trends of contemporary movies don’t last forever, and pretty-boy actors get on my nerves too. Can’t wait until it becomes unfashionable again, like it did in the 70s to some extent.

Alden Ehrenreich is no more a pretty boy actor than Harrison Ford was in 77.

Haha so wrong.
Harrison always had the quintessential asymmetrical, gloriously flawed features of a deep-character tough guy.
You’re so out of your element you deserve naught but instant liquidation.

I think the more important issue is that he doesn’t really look like Harrison Ford but I guess his attractiveness is a more important issue. Also what is it with people and their gripes with the attractiveness of the cast in these new films? I’ve heard that part of the reason Rey is supposedly a Mary Sue is because she’s beautiful, I have read a comment on youtube saying that Jyn is too attractive to be in a Star Wars film (because Padme never existed) and now this shit? Why is this a thing?

EDIT:

Lets look at the OT trio and they’re all attractive and I doubt many people had a problem with that in 77.

Harrison was always a hot mofo, especially in the 70s. The older he got, the tougher he looked.

Alden’s no pretty boy is my point though. He’s handsome, but so is Han Solo. If he doesn’t look as tough as mid-30s Ford, maybe that’s because he’s not that old.

More shit that should be obvious.
It’s not attractiveness per se that’s the issue—indeed Harrison was and is far, far more attractive than Alder Ermintraut or whatever his name is—but blandness and vapidity.

And you’re basing this on what exactly?

I’d love to know what makes the former so obviously “pretty” and the latter not, cause at the moment it just sounds like you’re saying random bullshit.

Who’s the babyface on the top? Jake Lloyd or something?

Yes actually. Isn’t it time we gave him a second chance?

Jake Lloyd for Han Solo?

I don’t think using a photo from Lloyd’s recent brush with the law is funny at all.

I always thought Mark Hamill was very pretty boyish before his accident. I thought he kinda talked like and looked effeminate. It was kinda offputting to me when I first watched Star Wars Episode IV.

The Harrison replacement isn’t as bad as I thought, but he doesn’t look like a guy who’s been around (Like Harrison was as a carpenter). You could forgive some of that because he’s supposed to be younger. I suppose my issue is more:

Believe it or not, but Quinto is older in Star Trek Beyond than Nimoy was when Star Trek went off the air. People just look so young now it’s unreal. Maybe you can attribute some of that to the fact people don’t smoke and drink as heavily now, but the people I know in real life show some signs that they’ve lived a life beyond being an actor. There’s a loss of grit, and as a result a feeling that it’s not as grounded in reality.

When it comes to Ford and Ehrenreich, they are certainly both handsome. However their face features are very different. Ford has much more manly face, while Ehrenreich has more feminine look to it.

Anyway, for me that is irrelevant because as long as it is a different actor I will be taken out of the film.

Now that I know you won’t be in it I am suddenly more interested in seeing this!

All kidding aside I really think you would be more taken out of the film if they had kept the same actors. That is a silly complaint to make.

Come on guys. Having to report this would be pretty silly but I’m just about there.

You should be allowed to have thoughts about any Star Wars movie in this thread.

I was listening to the Jedi soundtrack the other day, and I thought, “wouldn’t it be kind of quirky if we heard the soundtrack version of Lapti Nek playing in a bar or on the radio in a future Star Wars movie?” Like a polished, studio cover of the cult Max Rebo Band hit.

Not a movie, but they did that in Battlefront II way back whenever that was. It played somewhere in Mos Eisley. There’s nothing as great in that game as slaughtering your enemies left and right to the sound of Lapti Nek.

That’s definitely on my list of easter eggs and things to include if I’m ever in charge of a Star Wars movie.

Also on the list:

  • Jaxxon
  • Fake-out starfield at the opening (starfield not actually being a starfield, but something like this, as I almost thought might happen in TFA upon watching the trailer:

)

Or better yet, as a tribute to carrie fisher they could play life day on the radio. Since they don’t wanna CG her in anymore.
