General Star Wars Random Thoughts Thread — Page 237

The only thing that sort of bugs me about Nien Nunb being in TFA is the implication that almost no one we’re familiar with has died offscreen in 30 years. I mean, combat pilots have historically had very short life expectancies in the real world, at least through WWII. It’s a minor enough issue for me that I can dismiss it with the MST3K mantra, though.

^Lando could have died, we don’t really know yet. Schrödinger’s Lando, as I believe I called it in another thread.

^Yeah. They don’t call him by name in the movie, so he/she is who ever you want 'em to be.
Duracell, you know better than to take every bit of EU as personal cannon.

Pretty sure he’s in the credits though.

Uh, who cares? We know that there are alien species that have incredibly long lifespans (Chewbacca?), so it’s not “unrealistic” by the parameters of this fictional universe that he could still be flying. Also, we have no idea how much confrontation there has been by way of dogfighting between the various iterations of Empire and Rebellion since the death of the Emperor, so maybe he hasn’t been in that many dogfights since Endor. And maybe he’s a really good pilot.

And I repeat, who cares?

Lando appears in one of the LEGO short films which are considered canon minus the LEGOy bits.

I didn’t see General Madine or Mon Mothma hanging around the Resistance base. Most of the people we saw appeared to be kind of young. Leia and Ackbar are the old guard keeping the embers of the Rebellion from going out.
And we don’t know if Wedge is still around.

Also, regardless of what they say behind the scenes, there’s no reason to think that the pilot actually was Nien Nunb based on the film itself.

At least the first TFA bit, it picks up right after the canon 3PO comic. I just want Ackbar to have a ship called “Daisy Mae” in the movies.

Is the fact that Nein Nunb is considered to be canonically Nein Nunb really a sticking point these days?

Yeesh.

Yeah I dunno what they were thinking with that. It never seemed to have much to it.

Can we get some real Star Wars games now? Besides Battlefront that is…

I think TFA is the first Star Wars film not to have a game based directly on it.
