The whales are definitely the best part of that cover.

I'm sure that the book is all about someone finding his discarded original gloves and using the DNA on them to clone the Imperial slaves who hand-stitched his gloves.
I think I remember that book being about some kind of prophecy that whoever had the glove could rule the Empire. Holy shit, they were some terrible books.

After some Wookieepedia browsing, I can confirm this is true. Also, it's the book with Trioculus, Palpatine's three-eyed son.

Actually, Trioculus was a pretender. Triclops was Palpatine's real three-eyed mutant son.

But yes -- the Jedi Prince series is crap, Zorba the Hutt's awesome dreads notwithstanding. Still, I continue to love Karl Kesel's interior artwork.

Wow, I remember those books.  They sure were pretty terrible . . .

Even as a kid, I automatically rejected them as being a legitimate part of the Star Wars story, since they contradicted other things so much and just didn't fit in terms of tone or style.

^ Who is "I"? I can't find that character on Wookieepedia.

They weren't terrible. I'll take ball-to-the-wall insanity over "Let's parse the Mardalorian language" or "Lets make fictional debates about the meaning of the Force" or "Lets explain the change in uniform on clones between AOTC and ROTS" any day of the week.

Though I'm disappointed David Lynch never got to direct ROTJ, in the end I think it was for the best. Lucas would have still gone ahead and made his SEs, and, to be quite frank, the very idea of Lucas desecrating a Lynch film verges on the profane for me.

Never even knew there was an option for that to happen (Lynch directing ROTJ).

Much as I like Lynch's work, I'm not sure if he would have been a good fit for the SW main series though... there's an essential feeling of 'campiness' running through it all (heresy!) that I'm not sure Lynch would have been able to support.

Dune more than proves he could have pulled it off.

Has Lynch ever taken a directing gig on someone else's baby though?

Lynch has stuck with his own projects ever since Dune was made. He's a guy who likes making movies his own way without any studio interference.
