Alright....which one of you is Patton? Fess up! =P
He really does have a funny and true insight into our world. I've seen him at Caroline's in Manhattan. Hilarious.
here's another clip. There are more than a handful of folks around here (and other boards) who could benefit from his insight.
Interesting insight. There are some films that stink on ice, but MST3K taught me a better way to deal with them. Heck, I even like Manos The Hands Of Fate in it's uncut form now.
The Sebulba idea isn't bad either! ;)
Where were you in '77?

A kid at my niece's elementary school said that he only watches the original Star Wars on tape. Gave me faith in the young generation
The Person in Question
Do tapes still work? I kind of had the impression (from personal experiences) that all VHS tapes (and players) are old enough at this point to fall apart when you try to watch them.
Depends on the tapes and the players. Post 2000 VCR's tend to be cheaply made, and have more plastic than metal in them. DVD/VHS combo machines are still on the market as well.
I have tapes from the 80's and 90's that have held up pretty well. I don't play them to death though.

I have two wardrobe sized cabinets of fully functioning VHS tapes and two players (one never opened upstairs in the loft). I have every Doctor Who story released on VHS and generally watch these in preference to the DVDs and Blu-Rays because it emulates the terrible reception in the area where I first watched them when broadcast.
I watch VHS more than DVD.
I only have 2 Blu-Ray releases at this moment and only have a player because my main DVD player gave up the ghost and I was interested in the upscaling possibilities.
I will only purchase Star Wars on blu when Ady releases ESB:R.
The new trailer for Matthew Vaughn's 'Kingsman: The Secret Service' was in front of 'Foxcatcher' and it featured Mark Hamill. I was 100% gonna see the movie anyway but catching up with Mark will be a nice added bonus.
Also the trailer featured a funny intro from Sam Jackson...

Mark is in a few shots from around 2 minutes in.
VIZ TOP TIPS! - PARENTS. Impress your children by showing them a floppy disk and telling them it’s a 3D model of a save icon.
Hmm there was something cool and Star Wars related I meant to post here. Forgot what it was.
I'll try to imagine it.
You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.
Episode 9 Rewrite, The Starlight Project (Released!) and ANH Technicolor Project (Released!)
I wish Zombie84 would clean out his PM inbox.
I'll repeat that seven times, or 21, whichever you prefer.
“That Darth Vader, man. Sure does love eating Jedi.”
I prefer no times.

...just the New York times.
(If you get that reference your good)

"You people remember; Baby nexu may seem like a cute idea for a pet,
but they grow up."
What golden calf, its hour come round at last, goes to Calvary to crucify itself on the World Tree as a sacrifice to itself?
I grow tired of this little game we play. This little light of mine, I'm going to hide it under a bushel.
Father, into thy arms I commend my body. I shall have great joy at that meeting at Xanadu, your castle in the air by the shore of the sunlit sea.
“That Darth Vader, man. Sure does love eating Jedi.”
This is random Star Wars thoughts people.
Says the guy whose random Star Wars thought was "I forgot what I was thinking of, but it was Star Wars related."
But yes, it would be nice to see some posts at least vaguely Star Wars related in here.
I wonder how much City of Death inspired George while working on AOTC:

^^ I wonder how much my post from the Doctor Who thread last year inspired Tobar while working on that observation ;-)
Only joking, I'm sure everybody who watched that episode would spot the inspiration. btw, it's well worth checking out episodes of Pre-1977/Pre-Star-Wars Doctor Who to spot similarities like this... plus loads of the SW cast appear in the show.
I might have asked in the Doctor Who thread already? But,
Does anyone know of GL ever saying he used to regularly watch Doctor Who?
Spielberg did (Amblin was in negotions to make a DW movie in the mid-90s).

Even in that very story. Ol' Veers.
There's so much that we assume influenced ol' George when making Star Wars, sometimes it seems like he'd have to be the most well read/watched person on the planet. Chances are, a large part of the supposed 'influences' are just coincidences.

Or maybe George is an idiot savant.
