Hi guys - not sure if this is the right place to post or not - sorry if it isn't.

Might be a stupid questions but i keep seeing GOUT come up in certain discussions and far as i can make out it seems to be a version of the films that was released.

Can somebody shed some light on what this GOUT thing is all about?

Cheers

Don't be apologetic if you're new you won't know what it stands for. It's a valid question one that many before you have asked.

GOUT - George's Original Unaltered Trilogy, used to distinguish the official 2006 DVD releases from the former fan preservations.

As found in Moth3r's acronym buster

I am so used to calling it the GOUT that I use it in conversation with friends.  They are starting to call it that as well.

So who is responsible for this?

I had to explain it when I showed a friend some comparison shots from the board.  I didn't even think about it.

Yeah, I use it all the time too. All my friends seem to know what I am talking about when I mention it, some of them use it too. I probably explained it to them at one point.

Do any other SW sites use the term? I guess we are probably the only place that constantly refers to numerous version of the film, as so have more need of a simple term to distinguish it from other versions. A lot easier than saying, "The outdated, LD transfers that came as bonus discs with the 2006 release".
