I haven't tried the upscale-script yet. At the moment I'm encoding the GOUT with the g-force script.
The encoding of one movie takes several days, so the next few weeks I have no capacity for other encodings.

i have a dual-core 1.8 Ghz pentium, and it takes about 1 day to encode 1 chapter ..
so about 1 week per movie for me also (7 chapters)... the upscaling script is much faster, and
you can test it on a small portion.. .i forgot how long it takes, but you can still run
both of them without impacting the encoding...
actually it depends on your computer.. i am probably going to get a quad-core soon,
because they are getting much cheaper now..

Here is another artifact, maybe g-force could help:
Here is the short (avi) sampleclip.
G-force, would it be reasonable, to change the script for every artifact, I mean when the script is changed for this scene, wouldn't we get some artifacts at other scenes???
if you want to ,
take the fixes from that are being made, and just make a separate
new AVS file, like for instance 3.09b -> ESBfixes.avs
that way, you can keep the old version 3.09 -> gforce GOUT.avs
and they will be separate, and not have issues that affect one,
and not the other...

OSJ, So far, I have been very careful to make sure that no new artifacts are introduced when I fix one. This particular shot looks very difficult, due to lack of information for the motion compensation to lock on to. If you post the original, I'll take a look at it.

is this actually worth fixing?
its basically 4 frames that occur from : 4min:28sec - 4min:29sec (around the 6400 frame mark)
when someone walks past han..
it basically takes less than 1 sec to watch, and is hardly noticeable unless
you are frame stepping through it...

G-force,
here is the unprocessed sample-clip.
There were also a few artifacts later when Han says goodbye to Leia. These looked like the one fixed in the Vader-scene.
You made a real time consuming work on this and as negative1 said, this is only visible less than one second so I'm not sure if it is worth fixing a few miniartifacs when the rest looks awesome...
as a question, whats a good bitrate and max bitrate to encode this, as the source for an edit, I'm afraid I may have lowballed it...I set both to 9032 (I tried using vcalc and thats what it gave me) but its telling me my average bitrate is actually around 7361...
I assume, you want to make a DL DVD?
1. How much audiostreams do you want on your DVD?
2.How high is the bitrate for every audiostream?
3. Do you want to have the original menu on your DVD?
4. Do you make a DVD with selectable subtitles or hard encoded subtitles?

I'd like room for around three or four
Probably around 192 kbps, same as the official DVDs
Doesn't matter
selectable, I got rid of the hard encoded from the script
I'm like 91% on the second pass now and I REALLY don't want to have to encode this again. I also want to use this encode for parts of an edit and if it looks too compressed I cant do that
I'm afraid, I have no idea at the moment.
When I calculated it for my DVD I got average (kb/s) "8680" and maximum (kb/s) "9224".
But I wanted the DVD with all the features that the original GOUT have (incl. Lego trailer etc.).
If you want to make a DVD without extras let the encoding run and see what you will get.
An average bitrate with 7361 kb/s is not that bad.
Where did you get this "7361" from? If it is a message from your encoder while encoding, this should be ok.

yeah its from the encoder, now it says the average is 7418, so thats a little better anyway
Okay, so It came out and looks great except from some REALLY BAD interlacing problems. Is this normal? I followed the instructions excatly including making sure all the settings in the encoder for porgressive were on.
Some scenes on the original DVD look like they are interlaced, although the movie is progressive. Chapter 5 of the original DVD is typical for this (look at the eyes of the left stormtrooper). This cannot be removed. There are several other scenes, that have this problem, like the stormtrooper in the desert who says: "Look sir, droids!"
No, I mean the whole thing is horribly interlaced, worse than the original GOUT
and the colors tend to swelter between red and green for some reason.
I'm not sure, but as I can remember someone here had ffdshow installed and the same problem. Do you have installed this on your pc?

hopefully when the final script rolls around someone will upload a DVD9 over the web. I REALLY am not encoding this again.

I'd be on board for that. I don't know the first thing about any of these scripting things and have far too much on my plate right now to be bothered to learn.

i wish people would actually just try them out,
that way you could help out, make suggestions,
or just have fun with it,
and see how things work.. granted it's not the easiest
thing in the world..
but i knew very little about avisynth before i joined this board, and thanks to the
awesome help here, i am now getting a lot more comfortable after just a few months..
don't be scared, people WILL help you out, all you have to do is ask..
just asking for a finished product of someone elses hard work is not exactly
encouraging to the people working on it..

I DID try it out and I waited days for a screwed up video. I'm running a Mac with Boot Camp and I can't run my primary OS (Mac OS X) without stopping the encoding. I'm forfeiting my ability to restart or switch OSes for several days just so I can get a messed up result? No way am I doing this again...

i wasnt referring to YOU about this... to the people that want it without helping.. or trying it out..
anyways, isn't there an avisynth for MAC?
i'm running windows, so i can run it in the background, and still work on other stuff..
actually now that i think about this, we probably can't post
it anyways, because it would be considered as a 'custom'
version,
and that's not allowed by the rules?
i think you need to check with mother or jay..

Didn't you preview it before encoding?
And yes, -1 is correct, discussion of uploading the "finished product" is not allowed on this board.

well,
i finally got through my first encode of 'star wars' completely with the
gforce-309 script.... it looks great!
yes, i had to use some deinterlacing here and there in the final
version, but it still looks good to me... took about a week of encoding..
i'll post some comparison clips shortly..
thanks again g-force, now i'll work on upscaling to 720p and 1080p with
the solo21 script, and some more modifications..

A week of encoding, omg. What kind of maschine do you have?
