Fan edit sub-forum?

Would this be possible at all, to have a sub forum within the fan edits & preservation forum for other movies not relating to Star Wars. There are so many threads relating to fan edits and workprints, they get lost cuz the search function isn't up to much. Then someone else starts another one, and so on and so forth. If we could have a sub forum at least they'd be easier to watch.

I'll keep this in mind for the new forum software I'm working on. I agree that Star Wars edits and other edits should be separated; it's getting crowded in there.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Sounds like a good idea with all the twilight zone, blade runner, and indiana jones stuff going on in there!

Maybe when the new site goes up you could call it AdamWanKenobi.com, because that seems to be all that's going on around here lately.

LOL!

“Always loved Vader’s wordless self sacrifice. Another shitty, clueless, revision like Greedo and young Anakin’s ghost. What a fucking shame.” -Simon Pegg.

I'd like to agree with Boomstick. I find the other preservation projects interesting as well, I'd just like them to be in a separate thread from the Star Wars stuff.

As would I. The thread, as it stands is quite unorganized.

While we're at it, can we split the preservation/fan edit forum into one section for "how do you do this", "what's the best way to do that" and "look at what I've done", and another section for "I want this", "I need that" and "gimme gimme gimme".

I think that's a great idea. With the bulk of site traffic obviously going to the Preservation/Fan Edits forum right now, I think there is enough interest in different subjects to warrant some new forums or sub-forums. I'm thinking it could go something like this:

Preservation and Fan Edits
 • Star Wars releases and ongoing projects - (official project threads and release info)
 • Non-Star Wars releases and ongoing projects - (official non-star wars project threads and release info)
 • General preservation and fan edit discussion - (requests, how-to's, and technical discussion)

My Projects:
[Holiday Special Hybrid DVD v2]
[X0 Project]
[Backstroke of the West DVD]
[ROTS Theatrical DVD]

I second this. It's getting WAY too crowded in there

Episode II: Shroud of the Dark Side

Emperor Jar-Jar
“Back when we made Star Wars, we just couldn’t make Palpatine as evil as we intended. Now, thanks to the miracles of technology, it is finally possible. Finally, I’ve created the movies that I originally imagined.” -George Lucas on the 2007 Extra Extra Special HD-DVD Edition

So, I just noticed that there are now 3 different preservation and edit forums relating to different aspects of that field of discussion (star wars, non star wars, and how to), which I think is a great idea. However, I think it would be much nicer if we just had one preservation and fan edit 'Folder' on the main forum page and inside that folder we had the 3 'sub-folders'. This is really just a neatness issue. I like things to be neat.

Not an option with the current software, or that's how I would've done it.

But this necessitates extra navigational clicks. I don't think this is a necessary step.

MeBeJedi: You aren’t one of us.
Go-Mer-Tonic: I can’t say I find that very disappointing.

JediRandy: I won’t suck as much as a fan edit.

In the new software, forums will be grouped under categories. For example, there will be a Preservation and Fan Edits category that contains these three forums. You won't have to click on the category to view a page containing links to the subcategories. All the forums will still be represented on the index page. They'll just be grouped for easier browsing.
