This is it... this the place to speak your mind freely about the Evil Empires around the world, mostly in the Bush Administration though...
Let's start with this:

I saw the original theatrical release of the Old Trilogy on the big screen and I'm proud of it...
How did I accomplish that (considering my age) is my secret...

That's disturbing; good thing NileQT is gone, or we'd have to listen to her pro-Bush spouting here.

I simply don't understand why every body hates the President.

Don't hate. Just don't have any respect for a guy who is so willing to burn every political bridge that all these past Presidents (including his father) worked so hard to build with foreign countries.

Well. If they stand in America's way.
The lives of our people are more important than France's money deals.

Born and raised in the U.S. so I worry about our increasing status as a target for everyone around the world.

And if our lives are so important, why don't we do more to protect them by having a better defense system here on our homefront that is supported by U.S. troops? That would require bringing them home. Where they should be.

Sorry if I offend anyone, but could you guys answer me this:

* Why can a solider kill women and children in a foreign country with no problems (My Lai massacre), and when he comes back home, if he snaps and kill someone, he's sentenced to death?

* Why in america dosen't a vote count as a VOTE? Why one person is not equal as one vote?

* Why are there so many countries interested in reconstruting Iraq with their own money (Iraq's oil)? Why was Halliburton in charge of reconstructing Kwait after the gulf war?

* Why did the CIA support and financed military dictatorships in south america (including Brazil), that resulted in debts and in the killing of thousands of innocent people? Why did the CIA financed the Al Qaida when the soviets invaded Afeghanistan?

* Why does mr. Bush refuses to talk about his business conection with the Bin Laden family back in the 70s and 80s?

* What happened to Enron?

* Who profits from war?

I could go on and on...

Peace dudes, its the only way. We gotta educate our children to live in peace, not in a permanent war.

“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

I can't conclusively answer any of these questions. Some are just impossible to answer with current information. Some (like Enron) I'm just not completely up to date on details.

I dont really want an answer, those were kind of rethorical questions.

I was thinking that they were all rhetorical until I read the Enron one which came across as a legitimate question (depending on how you read it). Now if you had asked "what, if anything, is going to happen with Enron's execs?" or the like, then I would have know for sure.

*Well, if a soldier kills women and children on purpose he should be executed--or any civilian for that matter. Accidents are regrettable but unfortunately unavoidable.

*I have no idea what you mean.

*We freed Iraq but we can't afford to rebuild the country. We can't hold their hands forever.

*I'm not aware of the US financing dictatorships and I don't agree with it. But you can't use someones mistake to justify not taking action. And the reason we helped Al Qaeda back in the 80s is because the Soviets were our enemies then. They were the bigger threat at that point in history.

* I'm unaware of what you are asserting. If it is true I'm sure he regrets it now.

* Well, it went bankrupt. That isn't a secret

*Who profits from the war? Everyone but the evil regimes that like terrorism.

Lasting peace will never come on this world. And we certainly can't achieve any peace through surrender. The problem with your thinking is that you seam to belive that peace by anymeans is the ultimate goal, but if you gain it by surrender, it is just that. Surrender.

First of all, thanks for keeping a polite, clean conversation about this topic. Some people just take it too seriously - well it is supposed to be taken seriously, bot not seriously enough to offend each other. Besides, we all agree in one thing here: the original star wars trilogy kicked ass

And my answers to your answers...

* Unavoidable? So, the killing of inocent is unavoidable? It is avoidable: no war.
* Did the majority of people vote for Bush? No. Is he the president? Yes.
* I understand, but the point is: people will profit from rebuilding, right? Companies will be hired to do the job, and they'll get millions, if not billions, of dollars to do it. What if Canada destroyed america because they think GWB has gone tyranical, and to pay for its reconstruction, the canadians are hiring canadian, spanish and japanese companies to do it, and they'll be paying with america's natural resources.
* Well it happened, it has been done since the late 1800s, early 1900s - Brazil, Chile, 50s Iran, they tried to do it with Vietnan... Before that, Great Britain used to do that, fulling China with opium and all that stuff.
* Oh he sure regreats, but I still smell something kinda fishy going on there.
* Ok, has anyone gone to jail? BTW Parmalat has gone the same way, and nothing will happen either.
* Now, has Halliburton made any profit from the gulf war?

Peace can happen. It's hidden inside our children. We, our generation, is screwed now, we're doomned, our minds and souls are filled with violence and blood, but if we raised our children away from this nonsense, dont you think peace would finnaly be achieved? We fill their minds with TV, violence, the idea that killing and making wars are ok, we are filling them with hate, with a empty search for money and material things, if we invest all we have in our children... we would have a good world for them to live.

ric, your idealism is really cute.
i hope it to be like that someday too, but it's not probable. it has nothing to do with violence on screen etc, it's just human nature. even cave men were fighting each other and, as far as i know, they didn't have TV...

i liked the oreo movie. that's what i've always thought. the US would be so much better off if they'd spend more money on education. but i can't judge on that. never been there.
