i am sorry your affended but warbler that is a risk you take when you enter discussions like this. dont leave the baord if you dont like what you see here, but leave this thread if you cant handle it.

So the question is what can the Presdent do with the military without the Congress declaring war? I don't know. Its hard to say. But Presidents have been doing it since Korea.

your right and that is something is not good. and it has to be stopped but i cant do anything about it .

Motti, the Twin towers were not a Military target. They were a place where over 3,000 civilians worked. CIVILIANS!!!!!! that really offended me, Motti, please don't try to justify that kind of mass murder, you can't.

and what about the mass murders that took place when the us carried out its air campaign in iraq. they only show the bomb that hit there tagets on TV you know. you know the ppl in iraq and palistine and afgaistan and bosnia and all the other place where the US have made war feel the same way.

Quote

The people who commited the attacks were sick evil murderers pure and simple. And it offends me when you suggest that the USA is somehow deserving of that kind of attack. The 3000 people who were killed didn't deserve it pure and simple!

in many ways the US got what was coming to it. the US tries to interfere in other peoples affairs too much they either send funds or supply here or they invade there. that is why alqida hates them. rather then just saying someone is evil and bad try to figure out why they feel they way they do. the US help Osama back in 1979 why would he hate them now. Because the US trys to control everything. they put there nose where it does not belong. i am not saying that 911 was right and to tell you something i knew people that died that day. my cousin worked a block away from the twin towers at that time, he is still alive but there were people that i knew through him that died on that day.

Shim, first you complain about how The U.S. didn't do anything about Hitler until we were attacked, that we did nothing while he began to murder Jews. Now you want us to do nothing while Saddam Murders his own people. You can't have it both ways.

i am not trying to have it both ways i am mearly pointing out that then they didn't think that they should the police the world back then why do they think they can now. at that time we didnt have a UN now we do.

Quote

Is the Ira evil and should they be taken down? yes But they havn't attacked us yet, they don't continue to threaten to attack us. I'm not against Great Britian going after the Ira. It is just that Al-qaeda attacked us and is threatening to do it again and therefor they take priority over the IRA (for the USA that is). And I am unaware of any connection between the IRA and the USA.

no comment because i dont really know anyhitng about the IRA. but a question didnt bush declare war on a tactic. therefore shouldnt he attack and be at war with everyone who uses that tactic. not just pick and choose. he made a defiant statement and he should stand beside it. if this truely is a war on terrorism he should hit all terrorist org. not jsut the islamic ones that threaten him. i am sure if he went after the IRA much of the islam war would came down and his war wouldnt be called a crusade. even if bush called it a crusade it is not motti. bush is not very bright and so he says stuff he doesnt mean or are not true. ( the axis of evil for example.)

I would ask all those who think we were wrong for attacking afganistan. To tell me what we should have done. And keep in mind that we don't have time machines to go back in time and stop ourselves from setting Al-qaeda up. Al-qaeda is here no matter how much we now regret helping them in the past, they are still here and are a threat. What in hell are we supposed to do?!? Tell me!

no one disagrees with you there.

just because your a proud american doesnt mean you have to agree with everything you country does. part of being wise is to be open minded warbler.

On a lighter note (and do note that I have been stearing clear of this debate), DJJD, yes I would likely wind up in a drunken stupor in some British gutter. But I would like to accept the challenge all the same.

motti found some very interesting link, this article discuss the issue of freedom, the countries' transformation into a democracy and goes back to the times of American Indepedence War. Sometimes it is wise to seek for answers in the past...

And to lighten up the atmosphere here: an easy question:
Q: Which country had Constitution second in the world after USA and first in the Europe ?

ok I'm sorry I overacted. It is just that as I said before I am proud American and I take 911 very personally. People who lived in my town died in the attack. A person my brother went to highschool with died in the attack. I watched the buildings fall live on tv. I guess seeing somthing like that effects you. If I offended anyone with my comments I'm sorry. Don't worry I won't be leaving the forums .

Good thing, Warbler. Would hate to lose you.

DJJD, proud of you for giving up the juice. Not an easy thing to do. I would never want to get you in a temptation situation again. So, I'll go drinking with Motti and he can relay my sorry post-drinking state of being. How's that sound?

Motti, you're on, m'man!

And to get my two cents in on RRS's question... since he's asking it, I'm guessing Poland.

Yeah, we don't wanna lose you, Warbler. This is a hot button topic that tends to bring out the worst in everyone, which is why I refuse to discuss it @ school. I have a friend who is a pro-Bush fanatic, so I find it's best not to bring the subject up.

I have a friend who is one as well, and after a few debates with her, I gave up. There is no changing people's minds and it's not worth ruining friendships to try to do so.

Bingo, my man - you knew too well there had to be a catch.

We celebrate the Constitution Day on May the 3rd. It was in 1791, so the French were third, introducing their document few months after us.

painting by Jan Matejko, 1891

The problem was that our dear neighbours, Prussia(Germany), Russia and Austria, which were absolutistic monarchies then, didn't want a mini-USA next to their borders that could spread the ideas of freedom and liberal policies. So instead of arguing with each other, they made a deal and ganged up on us, kicking us out of the world's playground for 123 years...

(England should be out of the count, as they have developed their law codex over the centuries, and have no written constitution, unlike us or USians. So we can call them "constitutional monarchy" but a bit in a different way.)

I smoked cigars very briefly and very rarely when I did. Never tried a cigarette in my life because both of my parents smoked at one point in time while I was growing (both have quit and been off for over two decades each) so I never had a desire to try.
