Luke’s probably not gonna use it in the movie, this is probably just a marketing thing. They wanted Rey to be the focal point of the poster for the international market, but had to have someone holding the blue saber for visual balance.

It fell into a black hole and was transported to a galaxy even farther away. There it was found by a civilization of machine entities, who gave it intelligence and built for it a new machine body. It then took to roaming the universe, in search of its creator.

and does anyone else think the lightsabers in the trailers are stunning? more of a light blue 1977 vibe than the TFA which was really saturated darker blue.

They’re quite nice. I always wish that they were more of a dangerous, crackling energy of the '77 version than the sanitized versions that came after, but this is about as good as I can expect while still holding to the established style.
