I like it.

The jedi listen to 'Friday' and the sith listen to 'walking on sunshine'

Makes perfect sense

Liked the last clip, but preferred the previous one where Ani says, "Qui-Gon, sir, I don't want to be a problem," and  Qui-Gon replies, "Of course you will be, Ani."  I found it much funnier than the running "angel" gag.

I'm kind of torn, as I like both.  Maybe use both?

So...this is just an attempt to add music, no actual editing yet.  The idea is that Ani is listening to music in the cockpit (and R2 can hear it too) but in the other shots, no music.  The problem is that there is music score throughout the channels in all the scenes.  So the question is - does it work?

Another option would be to do the shots in the cockpit with only the original center channel audio, and the music in the R-L and surround R-L channels, the idea being that we don't need sound effects in the cockpit. There would still be music score present, although maybe not as noticeable.

Oh, and the music track is temp.  I probably should pick a different song...

Not feeling what?  Is the music clashing with the score too much?

It needs less Friday. Otherwise you'll kill the joke. Use something else. Like Nyan cat

I just don't think it's very funny. It seems like one of those jokes you won't get unless someone tells you, "he's listening to music in his cockpit."

And yeah, it does clash a bit too much.

Hm, I liked it, didn't clash too much with the score.  A different song though, keep Friday as Qui-Gon's song ;-)

Sorry guys, I should have been clearer.  I'm not using Friday again, I just had it handy as a test.  Currently my thought is to use Meco's Star Wars Disco, but I'm open to other suggestions.

Also, to address OO5's concern that it isn't clear why the music is playing, I'm going to have a subtitled conversation between R2 and Ani when they first take off.

I'll probably also try two methods, the one I did here and then one where I only keep the center channel in the cockpit and put the music in the other channels.

Thinking about it, it could work if one of the buttons he pushes to find the trigger turns on the music. I wish we could have him turn on the windshield wipers... "Oops!"

Brilliant!  It shall be so.

An attempt to minimize the music conflicts.

Sounds good, though I would suggest making seem part of the scene a bit by adding reverb, or something to give the impression of the music coming from the cockpit.

I would try a filter that makes it sound like its coming over a radio or something. Lower the quality a bit?

I'll take a look at it in audacity and see what is available.

I was thinking that too, but I remembered that "The Towering Inferno" gave the source music (music that is supposed to be part of the scene i:e coming from a radio) a very large amount of reverb, which gave it a sense of "distance" so that's why I suggested reverb.

but a filter would probably work better.

The Equalization plugin has a preset called "AM Radio" or something that works really well.

I installed the plugin but I don't see anything like that.  Further, all the ones I've tried (Columbia 78, RCA Victor 1938, RIAA, EMI 78, etc. etc.) sound pretty much the same to me.

btw, I got a couple of suggestions on FE.org for when Ani says "ok, let's go left" in his fighter:

1) Flip the shot so he goes right instead
2) Use the Garmin "recalculating" voice afterward.

I like the idea of also including a Garmin "turn left" before he tries to turn.

Anyway...anyone know where I can get reasonably clean audio of the Garmin speech?  There are a few on youtube I could pull but they're not very good quality.  I also happen to have a Garmin, I wonder if there is a way to get the speech off it and onto my computer?

Classic! I'd say just record it with a mic, but I'm not sure how you could get it to want to turn left or recalculate.

I did a quick search for Garmin Soundboards but couldn't find anything. Apparently there is a way to dump the files and replace them, but I'm not sure you can dump them as audio files.
