Editdroid's SW 1977 DVD (Mysterious 720p Anamorphic LD Preservation?) (Released) — Page 4

Also, just to give another bit of info regarding ED2 vs LFL Pwnage:

-LFLPwnage has most of the edge enhancement as well, it's just less severe. I must imagine this must be on the source file (GOUT). Probably because ED2 is slightly sharper the edges are a bit more apparent.

-LFL Pwnage has the correct Greedo font. The ED 2 looks similar to the official font, but it's bigger and has different layout in some lines. The ED2 subs are much better looking IMO, but they are technically less correct as far as I can tell.

I really wish someone else could see the new Editdroid so opinions on it aren't so one sided (i.e. all of them mine). I recently had the chance to watch this on a large screen television and I was very impressed with how well it held up. I think if it weren't for the aliasing and occassional video noise (and the DVNR stuff) this is the sort of quality many of us would have accepted as a sort of bare-bones OOT-on-DVD official release before the 2004 set. I certainly wouldn't have complained. It looks comparable to many movies from the 1970s transfered to DVD from the earlier days of the format--a bit rough around the edges in the print and not as sharp as a newer film, but appropriately watchable. I guess the same could be said for LFL Pwnage as well.

Could you post a short sample clip on a filehoster, please? Maybe a m2v file of one chapter?

The images look very crisp! I think it's a few steps foward than the 2006 DVDs. I would love to get a copy!

Why post a sample, just post the whole DVD already.

Actually, the LFL Pwnage doesn't have the correct font for Greedo, but it's a very well made approximate of the original theatrical font, as they only had the bootleg telecine as a reference to work from back then. It uses Franklin Gothic Demi Cond but Trade Gothic Bold or AlternateGotNo3D seems to be much closer for a recreation.

We want you to be aware that we have no plans—now or in the future—to restore the earlier versions.

Sincerely, Lynne Hale publicity@lucasfilm.com

This is the sort of outcome i was hoping from the aleksbmw thread , but that thread seems pretty redundant know.

Now that I'm back... has this thing begun to percolate through the usual places yet?

No; it seems not.

zombie84 said (while quoting the info on the disc itself):

The main source for the 1977 mono theatrical mix came from “The Mono Mix Restoration Project” and would not have been possible here without their hard work. The track, while mostly complete, contained audio drop outs and some gaps, which were filled from a second mono source. All audio was cleaned up to minimize the optical track crackle and rumble. The original transfer was not speed locked, so varispeed and numerous edits were required to patch and slide audio back into sync.

Reading this again, I'm not sure what EditDroid are referring to in this paragraph. Are they talking about the work that Belbucus did to patch, clean up and sync the mono mix from my capture, or did they carry out further work to the audio using Belbucus' final audio as their master?

It would be nice if someone else could see it sometime, huh, Frinky? :)

That was just a joke, but I agree with the general sentiment.  It would be nice to have a few other people see this and give us some thoughts.

(and I don't say that so I can get it - I don't have the proper eye/ear for the detail this requires)

Okay, so we're all sure now that this is just another GOUT sourced custom DVD like LFNpwnage (only different)... and it's not out anywhere yet.

I still want to see it!

Sorry, having paying that much attention but could someone remind me what the LFL pwnage version is.

Are there other enhanced versions are there sourced from the official unaltered dvd out there? Like I've heard a lot about using special filters or digital color matching the 1993 picture, are those floating around or still being worked on?

I'm interested in seeing this as well - despite my misgivings about its description, the DVD screenshots do look very good.

Zombie - don't take this the wrong way - but when you're making copies of this, please ensure you make exact copies, without stripping anything or altering any of the files on the disc. (I recommend you use something like ImgBurn to make the copies.)

Why do I say this? Click the link in my sig for more details...

Seeding?  So far it seems like only zombie has seen it.  Or have I missed something?

Demand... DEMAND?!!!!??!!!

Usual? ME???? THAT'S CRAZY!!!

That's ALL??? I'll show you what's all, Mister...

Time to send you to the funny farm, sir, because there's no demand HERE. If other people gently imply that they might like to see it someplace someday, that's cool, right? :P

Ric Ollie: Kurgan is being sarcastic!

The torrent has been up for awhile, it just needs seeders. That's how it works.

You're only allowed to make fun of me if you have already downloaded, watched, and thrown the disc out your window already. ;)

I'm doing a test seed because its my first torrent and I just want to make sure it's all good before I give away too much. I really don't know what I'm doing here. :p

(Moth3r--yes, it's an ISO).
