The first two need a lot of work on them, with the TPM one the P cuts into both the top bar and H and the M cuts into the top bar too, the bottom bar also has also got a rather unpleasing thickness on the side.

There's nothing wrong with bending the rules about changing the letter sizes to create effects but you should try to avoid over clumping the letter forms, give them a bit of room to breath and they will look easier on the eye.

The J in Jedi looks very strange indeed, does it lack a left serif counter in the typeset you have or did you adapt it to look that way?

The bar under THE is jabbing it in the tail too.

the phantom menace one is supposed to be reminiscent with the ESB one so so the p is supposed to melt into the bar but the H i couldnt cut out part of the H because it would look strange and the J had to be moved around so it would touch revenge

Now you are beginning to see why it takes so long to train as a typographer and why they get paid so well, it is an artform in itself.

Keep working on it I'm sure if you balance out the spacing and the size of the lettering you will be able to get something that matches both your ideas and looks good.

I was actually considering posting a tutorial exactly on this topic earlier this week, so apparently there is interest. I'll have to think more about it.

Ooh, a laserdisc. The Cheat's playin' something on a laserdisc.
Everything is better on a laserdisc. Whatever happened to the laserdisc? Laserdisc!

As you can probably tell a tutorial is needed pretty badly. So yes it would be appreciated.

I'm quite interested indeed - I can't get the thicknesses of the outlines to match properly at all, and if I use Photoshop's contract-selection tool, I get too many rounded edges where there should be sharp edges, and I'm too lazy to go fix them all myself.  I suppose I'll have to end up doing that eventually, though ...

When you have a selection and use contract or expand the selection, and you think that the edges are all wrong you see what the mask look like if you press the refine edge or the quick mask button.

Then you can adjust the selection and have a preview of what you see.

The wonky one at the bottom looks kind of interesting (hopefully by mistake).

It looks like some kind of Sam Peckinpah space opera (either that or a blackmail note from a Star Wars geek).

It could become more wonky and coloured in for a Saul Bass style title sequence.
