Ok, I have started to transcode the 'Building Empire' DVD to four Xvid parts. The first two are 300MB each. Any advice where to upload them?[/q

Rapidshare, Yousendit and Megaupload all work well for me.

Torrents, would be a good guess. Any reason that you put it in 300mb parts? Not trying to be an a, just asking.

Might be just a coincidence, but the main feature on his DVD consists of four .VOB files.

However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…

Yep you got it. I just did a very quick job of it. But I have since been told that you can get hold of a good 2 part Xvid Rip on edonkey.

I'd rather use something else then load more P2p stuff to my comp, any other options?

I don't have an edonkey client either. Perhaps someone has already got it and could share via a torrent.

I'm serious - Rapidshare and the like (MegaUpload/YouSendIt) would be perfect for files of that size.

Just a quick one to mention another mention for 'Building Empire' along with Garrett's excellent 'Deleted Magic' on T-Bone's Site.

I particularly like the last paragraph. But just for the record, I am over 29, married with a kid and work as a freelancer. This gives me lots of free time whilst still earning lots of money (well, enough anyway). Otherwise, Building Empire would not exist.

I have also added a VERY long overdue credits list for 'Building Empire' (it's not quite complete yet, but the bulk of it is there). You can read it over at my blog.

Yesterday I contacted a guy that was selling Deleted Magic on ebay asking him what other titles he has for sale (out of interest you understand. I would nenver buy a 'bootleg')

As expected, the reply contained something interesting:
---------------
I will be selling Building Empire VERY soon. I am in the process of securing cover and disk art, and once I do, it will be on sale. Keep a look out at my items, rest assured, the wait won't be long.

Thanks for your question, and may the force be with you.

Cheeky bugger!!
----------------
My question is, what shall I do now? Report him to ebay? Bombard him with emails? Ask for a cut? (joking)

It just annoys me that he/she is making money out of other people's work without even giving credit to anyone.

Grrr

I have just had a look and you can report unauthorised copies

here

All you need do it type the item number in the first field and express you concern in the second field.

Lets face it we would all like to make some money on the side, but this isn't the way to go about it!

If you feel the same then please take the time to contact ebay.

You can also report the sale of non-blank recordable media, see here (report link at bottom).

I agree it's extremely annoying to see someone making themselves money by selling other people's work to the gullible. Dr Gonzo's discs are still being sold on ebay, despite the imminent official release!

I've had experience with things like this before. I run a CD trading website and a few of our discs have wound up on eBay from time to time. Sometimes, it's questionable whether or not it's from us, but there was one occasion that gave the guy away. Myself and friends of mine sent him nasty emails and reported him to eBay multiple times in a few hours and he eventually just got annoyed and took them down. A similar strategy may work.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

Things are shaping up for RTJ Sluggo but I am waiting on several people at the moment.

Will post an update on the thread soon.

You know that you are in there also, daveytod! And no rush on the RTJ, of course. I'd rather see it done right than done early.

I got a reply from the dude selling Deleted Magic and Building Empire:

"These dvds are not copyrighted. They are freely available for public distribution as they are a fan created documentary. The creators of such works actually encourage distribution of said documentaries through 'pay it forward' selling. I.E. Selling to someone who hasn't the resources to download, burn, and print the covers themselves, and so, charging them a reasonable fee for the cost of production.

I am not making a profit from these disks. It costs a small fortune for the packaging, ink, disks, equipment and electricity to make these disks. I am simply distributing the disks as much as possible within the Star Wars community, giving the documentary as much exposure as possible, which is what the creators want."

Opinions please.

That's what I thought too. It would really be a shame if that's true.

Possibly a dick, definately a liar. There is no way these things are costing him £5.49 to put together.

What about the cost of ELECTRICITY?

We should be glad he's not charging for the oxygen he's consuming while clicking buttons and putting covers in cases.

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

I agree.
What a dick.
I bet he doesn't even realise that Jambe was the one who emailed him!
What he's doing is not on.

I just got another message via ebay from a different user saying:

"By the way. Nice to meet you Jambe."

I think it's the same guy. Looking at his history he has sold the Holiday Special on DVD.

So, definitely an OT.com member or viewer.

I think it's time you revealed yourself mate. Though I doubt you will somehow.
