I could really go for some rehash browns right about now.

Not funny and you really missed the point here. Like totally missed it. If you wanted to pretend to be intelligent you could have tried to write “Palpatine is sort of a rehash of the villains in Frank Herbert’s Dune mixed with Othello’s Iago”, or “Anakin is sort of a rehash of the Messiah from the same series mixed with judeo-christian mythology”, etc. But you can’t, can you ?
Mala is a rehash of Mala, and he was never good to begin with.
I don’t know. The prequels put a really huge dent in the Star Wars franchise. If they were never made, and Disney still continued the franchise with TFA, things would’ve been more forgivable. As it stands now, the prequels aren’t even really films, and sitting through AOTC/ROTS would be an act of masochism at this point.

See, now that’s funny!

I am calm. And the CGI hasn’t aged well either. Which was the only draw for II & III at the time.

If you had more familiarity with generallyfrivolous, you’d know this is calm for him.
If you’ve ever wanted to see a nascar race in SPAAAACE or a double-bladed lightsaber or a bunch of Jedis fighting at once or Yoda with a lightsaber being completely “”"""""“badass”""""""" (I can’t put enough quotes around that word) or Anakin fighting Obi-wan on a river of lava for 20 minutes…in short, if you are 12 years old…then the prequels may be worth watching even once. Perhaps then you will recognize that you didn’t want to see these things in the first place, and you could take this opportunity to appreciate the prequels for allowing you to realize what a blessing the OT really was.
Or you could just stew in your hatred and disappointment. That’s cool too.
You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

There’s nothing wrong with either of these things. Admittedly the latter seems cheap but I think that’s due to:
Them wiping out inconsequential hostiles
Lack of an emotional connection towards the Jedi Order
rather than the idea itself.

People don’t develop emotional connections to “orders”. They develop emotional connections with characters. Slapping eleventy Jedi on screen was a very poor decision. Making them all get wiped out with almost no effort by hysterically inaccurate stormtroopers was even worse and lazy.

I formed an emotional connection to the Rebellion because of my connection with Luke, Han and Leia. Just like with Alderaan…

I think the writing around it was exponentially more lazy as it required the entirety of the Jedi Order to be morons so that the Clone Army could be created.

Well the first one seems like it would end with the wielder getting cut in half, and both sound like a 12 year old’s idea of what is cool with Force users. Although, if Phil Lord and Christopher Miller had to put those things on screen, they would probably find a way to make it look brilliant.

That’s what practice sabers are for.

Having that without substance is what a 12 year old would find cool but eh. As long as the story and characters are well written I don’t care if the action is over the top. If that means I think like a 12 year old then I’m fine with that.
I tried watching portions of Sith the other night and it was hard. Aside from Mannequin Skywalkers abysmal acting, the script/dialogue made the other decent actor look crappy as well.
One idea I thought of was to edit (greatly) the really cool scenes (preferably no dialogue) into one movie that quickly tells the back story of pertinent details leading up to R1 and then ANH. As bad as they were, there are some scenes that I still enjoy today.
But then you’d miss out on the second most important part of the prequels - their amazing visuals.
For a second I thought someone shopped Anakin and Obiwan into that bar with three-titted cat lady from Star Trek V…then I realized both the gif and my eyes are total shit.
In all honesty regarding the prequels, I think they deserve at least one watch as a lesson more than anything. They exist, they’re shit, and they kicked an absolutely massive dent in one of the biggest media empires out there. They are an el primo example of how to not make a movie.
What, a man builds a giant mound of dirt in his house and you aren’t entertained?
I definitely feel like the prequels are rather unnecessary, I just posted a blog about me getting my little brother into Star Wars, but in it, I didn’t mention that I will not be showing him the prequels, they just lack the charm the original trilogy had.
Possibly not the first person to have “I don’t like sand” as a signature.
I don’t mind the prequels, but given the quality of TFA and R1, they’re surely easier to ignore now than ever…
I haven’t watched them in 10 years and it brings back the enjoyment to the OT when you can just forget that they exist. Unfortunately I do own them because I bought the BDs for the extras, but I’ve sold almost everything else that relates to them.
I’d be too curious to see them at least once being a SW fan but after seeing them I wish I hadn’t. But even more I wish the PT hadn’t been made. I can ignore them but they ruined the OT and if I ever say that I like SW to people, I have to say “not the prequels” and “only the versions that aren’t available” which is tiring. It’s just sad that for most people the OT is now the DVD/BD editions with Hayden etc. Ugh.
And in the time of greatest despair, there shall come a savior, and he shall be known as the Son of the Suns.
I can ignore them but they ruined the OT
Thank goodness then for TFA and R1, which bolster both trilogies, but the OT in particular - especially the mysticism surrounding the Force which has been rebooted away from bloody midichxxxxans!
Lol, the PT only ruins the OT if you let them.

Exactly. Unfortunately non-fans/random people can easily make that choice which tarnished the reputation of SW for years. Most people here probably don’t think so because we’re still here on a fan site.
For example I know a girl who had seen one SW film years ago and because of that she wasn’t interested to see the rest at all and thought they were garbage. I figured it must’ve been one of the prequels and tried to persuade her to watch the OT as she was a big fan of LOTR and I knew she would like it. Then she was shown (I guess all of) the films and she became a big fan because of the OT and said it was probably TPM which she had seen at some point before. I knew it.
