Frink, if it was you on the track, I would definitely pull it to the right.

I’m not sure why you think that would matter to me.

Obviously any Japanese animation with sound is probably going to have music in it, just like anything else. I’ve heard plenty of great Japanese music, and plenty of that was in some sort of Japanimation.

Army of Darkness: The Medieval Deadit | The Terminator - Color Regrade | The Wrong Trousers - Audio Preservation
SONIC RACES THROUGH THE GREEN FIELDS.
THE SUN RACES THROUGH A BLUE SKY FILLED WITH WHITE CLOUDS.
THE WAYS OF HIS HEART ARE MUCH LIKE THE SUN. SONIC RUNS AND RESTS; THE SUN RISES AND SETS.
DON’T GIVE UP ON THE SUN. DON’T MAKE THE SUN LAUGH AT YOU.

Yeah but you also claim to have seen good anime.

Japanimation

I like how you keep saying that as if it’s gonna hide the terribleness of anime or something.

I just like the term.

I’ve begun to dislike using the term “anime” because it makes me feel like I’m more associated with weeaboos who see anime (and other forms of Japanese media) religiously. The people who freak out if you call an “anime” a cartoon, or call a “manga” a comic book. Crazy weirdos. I simply enjoy some television shows, films, and comic books that happen to be of Japanese origin.

And don’t get me wrong the other way either. I do like some things about Japan aside from the media side of things; the Japanese language, for instance. It’s probably the only language I actually have an interest in learning about; but due to the lack of a class for it at my high school, I’m forced to go to next best: German.

So I guess you’re kind of on the right track, only I’m trying to help clarify my own opinions, rather than hide the nonexistent complete terribleness of all Japanese animation.

Ah yes, the axis languages.

I’d like to learn German if only to know how to swear profusely in the language.

I get a real kick out of calling them ‘Chinese cartoons’ around this type of people.

Hey Pitchfork, I just want to read an album review. Keep stinking anime out of it.

http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/22140-mono-no-aware/

The anime series FLCL, like a lot of anime before it, depicts a young boy fighting robots. What distinguishes the series is that the robots emanate from an abyss in the boy’s brain. When they emerge, they resemble cubist knots of trash, mechanical blocks congealed into a kind of sinister animated matter.

When I listen to the music of British punk band Johnny Foreigner, I’m reminded of those robots, in both design and velocity.
