Hello to anyone that was following this thread! I’ve had a big delay in being able to work on this project but am about to get back to it, and there’s not a ton left to do (I think) so it shouldn’t be too much longer. I’m sorry for the lack of communication, hopefully there will be something to share soon!

Thank you all for the interest and support!

Out of curiosity, are you giving names to your custom episodes?
I really loved the varied and interesting episode titles in LOST. So it would be very cool if your versions also had new episode titles that fit the style of the show.

I’ve thought about trying that but so far just have times/dates as titles, but that was really to keep things organized for the most part. I’ll put some real thought into it and see what happens. I can’t compete with the original titles but if it seems doable, I’ll go for it. I have noticed themes occasionally within the newly edited episodes but in a lot of cases there’s not. We shall see!

Also - I just remembered after sending the last message - the episode titles were dates so those watching would know where they are in time. Especially when some episodes have multiple years pass within them, it seemed like the casual viewer could easily get confused without the time period listed. That said, it could always be both! Or alternate titles. We shall see!

Regarding when it’s finished, do you know how we’ll be able to access it and roughly how much space we’d need to download?

Thank you so much for your dedication and hard work on this project. I’ve been so excited ever since I found this post in June!

Thanks everyone for your excitement for the project! It’s keeping me inspired to get it done.

As for sharing it, I’m not totally sure which method to start with. I’m also not sure what can be freely mentioned in these public posts, so I don’t want to be too specific. I think that’ll have to take place in private messages, one way or the other. Regardless, I want to find a good way to share with you all!

As for size, what will likely happen is this; For myself, I am going to export these episodes in the full remuxed Blu-Ray quality they started with, so the entire show will come out around 850-900GB. Obviously, that’s not ideal for sharing. So, I did some experiments and found a good compression rate at which I could make the files dramatically smaller, while still maintaining very good quality. I don’t have an exact number since I haven’t exported all the episodes, but my guess would be something like 200-250GB for the whole show. Again, not sure yet, so that could change. If there are others like me who want the highest quality possible, then we’ll have to figure something else out. The more compressed versions looked overall pretty close in my experiments.

I’ll know more as I start the final exporting process, once the episodes are officially done.

Any update on the progress by any chance? Really excited to see this project come to fruition.

Very interested in checking this out when it’s done. I can wholly empathise however that it is easy to underestimate how long a big edit project can take. Hope you’re not discouraged!

Hello to everyone following this thread!

I am very sorry for vanishing, but I got on this plane and I can’t quite remember what happened, but I found myself on a crazy island…

But seriously, life has been insane and the project went on the backburner for a long time. I really appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding. And more than anything, the continued excitement to see my edit of Lost. It’s so awesome that people care as much as I do about this brilliant show. I feel bad for not giving any updates at all for such a long time, but life gets crazy and in the mix of daily life fun things like this disappear into corners of the brain.

But you know what happens any time you try to leave the island for very long. It calls you back. And I did grow a big unkempt beard, though thankfully didn’t get addicted to painkillers. Anyway, hopefully there will be some progress soon and I’ll really try harder to keep in touch. Sometimes I get it in my head that no one would actually care that much about my silly project, but then realize that’s just not true. I only hope it lives up to what people are hoping when the time comes.

Thanks again, fellow Losties!

Hello fellow Lost fans! Happy 8/15!

It’s me again with a quick, and dare I say, happy update. I’m fairly certain I have reached the end of the final editing pass. There’s some things to be done at this point to make it available, and I am working on that currently.

My ideal release date would be September 22nd, 2023. While I won’t make that a promise just yet, I feel very optimistic that it will be possible.

I’m not sure who is still following my thread here, especially since I disappeared for a long time, but if you’re still interested please post and let me know! Once it’s available you will have to PM me to gain access.

I’ll probably set up a new completed project page in the near future and I’ll link to it from here.

Thanks everyone for your interest and for helping motivate me to get this done! And more than anything, for your shared love of Lost.

Hello again!

I just wanted to pop in here to say hello, and let everyone know things are still moving along nicely. While the editing is essentially done, there is a sort of “beta test” happening at the moment to iron out any bugs, so to speak. I, along with a trusted Lost ally, are watching through everything to assure it’s as good as it can be for all you wonderful Lost fans out there.

This may delay things further than September 22nd, which was my tentative goal of releasing it, but if so, it won’t be too much longer. I will continue to check in on here, and will be heavily focused on it until this thing is done!

I do have a system for distribution set up already, and when the time comes I will share that through private messages.

Thank you for your patience! If anyone has any questions, feel free to comment or send me a message. I’m always happy to talk about the project 😃.

Hello once again fellow Lost fans!

Happy September 22nd! Nineteen years of Lost, my goodness. I’m so thankful for this brilliant show!

Though I was originally hoping to be releasing my edit of the show on this special anniversary, it became clear recently that it would be slightly premature to do so. Have no fear, things are moving along every day, in a very positive manner!

As I’d mentioned before, there’s been a “beta test” going on with myself and a fellow Lost scholar, known here on the forum as PiEater. This process has turned out to be quite beneficial to the overall quality of the project. The good news is, the end result will be a better, more coherent and professional feeling experience, and worth the wait. The bad news is…well, that you’ll have to wait just a little bit longer.

At the pace we’re going now, I would expect somewhere in the range of 2-3 months. Of course, this is an estimate, and it could be sooner, or later than that. It’s always hard to say for sure when we both have daily lives that get in the way of the fun of working on the project. But it’s moving along all the time, so it will be ready ASAP! 😃

I am really excited to share this version of Lost with you all! I am really proud of it and feel it is a unique and fun way to watch this amazing show. I’ll continue to pop in here with updates from time to time. Thank you all so much for the support and patience!

It’s so close!!! 😃

Happy Lost Day, everyone! I hope you’re doing well.

Wigjuice and I are having a blast (door) checking through all 81 episodes and making slight adjustments as we go. Apparently I’m a Lost scholar now? Does that make me Dr PiEater? Not pie… (Arzt’s voice) It’s pi, you idiot!

Anywho, for all the maths (sorry for the spelling, I’m Australian!) nerds out there, so far we’ve passed over 32 episodes since 20th August. Therefore, at this rate (assuming that time continues to run linearly – and that’s a big if, because as we all know time is relative) we’re tracking to finish in another 56.0625 days, around 13th November. Of course, that estimate doesn’t account for the variations of daily life. Man, how I wish I just lived down a hatch with nothing to do except push a button and watch Lost all day.

Thank you for being very, very patient. The Others will be coming to get you soon.

Hello, everyone! Richard PiEater here, speaking on behalf of Jacob Wigjuice.

We’ve now finished ‘beta testing’ 40 out of 81 episodes, so it looks as though the universe is on course and things are playing out the way they’re supposed to. Faraday did some complex space-time calibrations and calculated that at the current rate, our trajectory points to completing this process on approximately 17th November.

We’ll have another update for you in about two weeks when the next 10 episodes are finished.
Get around it, I know you and all of everybody is going to love it!

Electromagnetic anomaly detected: It’s UPDATE TIME! 🌟

Wigjuice and I have now finished checking not 4, not 8, not 15, not 16, not 23, not 42, but 50 out of 81 episodes of this project!

It is well on track to being completed, and at the rate we’ve been going, it’s currently projected to be finished by about 19th November. If any of you have a frozen donkey wheel handy, just give it about a quarter turn to be transported there immediately! For everybody else, stay where you are and the island will come to you soon.

Show us your interest in the comments, we want to know that you’re still here!

Back in a few days with the next update, get hyped! 😍

Hello again my fellow Lost enthusiasts!

Another time jump has occurred and we are now at the 23rd of October, and get this…60 episodes are now loaded up for the pallet drop! That leaves only 21 to go, and I can’t say enough how pleased I am with this project! 😃

I don’t have the Daniel Faraday level math brain that PiEater does, so can’t provide a specific calculation on what the updated date and coordinates will be for the official pallet drop (help me out man?). However, we’ve been flying along at an amazing (Charlie) pace, and some really cool things have happened within the edit all throughout this exciting time. I can’t wait for everyone to see it!

I’m guessing a November release is still likely, but as always, life may get in the way, so don’t hold me to that just yet. It’s feeling really good though.

Either myself or Dr. PiEater will be back on here when we hit 70! It’s soooooooooo close!!! 😄

I just called Daniel Faraday from 1996 on my satellite phone, and he said that the updated time-coordinates of the island are 16th November, 2023. He also asked me if I’ve seen his ‘constant’ here in 2023, what’s that all about?? 🐗
