This happens in sports all the time. If it didn’t, there would be no reason to play the games.
it does not happen all the time that a team as good as the Women’s US Soccer team get eliminated as early as they did. This is like the New England Patriots not even making the playoffs because they lost a game to the Miami Dolphins.

Did you know they lost to the Brazilian team that won the most recent World Championship, was top-seeded, and was favored to win Gold? If they lost to the US, I guess they would have been ashamed of themselves.
But at least they were embarrassed at the 2014 World Cup Semi-Final.

I didn’t say the US Women’s Beach Volleyball team should be ashamed of themselves. As for whether or not the Brazilian team should have ashamed of themselves if they had lost, the US team is lot better at beach volleyball then the Swiss women’s soccer team is at soccer. Also there is a difference between a World Champ losing in the Olympic semi-final and one that doesn’t get that far.
