WOW!...again. :)
You're certainly spoiling us at the moment adywan, as it seems like only the other day that we got the previous terrific clip of 'Bespin' too - I'm hoping you've had a chance to consider some of the thoughts about that one in my two long posts on page 1200, by the way.
As far as this latest clip goes, these were some of the worst effects shots that I hoped could be improved a little when you started ESB:R...but never in a million years would I have guessed that you'd eventually build your own 'canyon' miniature for a total re-shoot, which would come to dominate your wife's kitchen for too long!
Well, it was absolutely worth all the effort and inconvenience it must have caused you at the time, as these few seconds of footage are fabulous...as are all your other tweaks in the overall clip.
It's interesting to see all the totally new TIE *flightpaths* right from the start of the clip, for most of the shots involving them...and they are definitely all for the better, no matter how subtle some of the changes are.
As far as the 'canyon' shots themselves, I was going to say that I would have preferred the 'Falcon passing sideways towards us' shot (just after the TIEs exploded) to have shown the Falcon passing *closer* to our viewpoint, so that it was a little more like the original shot...but then you actually did that anyway in your tweaked 2nd version soon after!! :)
The 'rocky' detail of your 'canyon' walls look wonderful throughout, and match the look of things before and afterwards perfectly...and the composition of your first new shot especially (where the Falcon enters it and comes towards us with the TIEs behind it) is just marvellous.
Just a couple of thoughts as far as the other little tweaks you made afterwards...I was already very satisfied with the look of your TIE collision in your original clip, so no worries either way as it's just a subtle difference in speed either way...but I absolutely loved seeing the brief flashes of the Falcon's reddish/'rust' panels in it's close-ups in your 1st version...and was sorry to see them toned down to almost no colour in your 2nd version. Personally, I preferred to see the Falcon's reddish panels in the shots where it closely passed our viewpoint, as you originally had them.
However, this sequence is definitely some of your best work yet as far as I'm concerned, so I'm glad you chose to put so much time and effort into it! :)
