For what it’s worth, I think Dre’s latest CC in this thread is the best one. The others are too green or too orange for my taste.

I agree, I think it looks great.

I’m going to attempt to finish reel 1 before the arrival of mini-me. Here are updates of the previous shots. New shots will hopefully follow soon.
Looks great - definitely looking forward to this
Here are comparisons with 4k77 no-DNR:

Wow, those comparisons really highlight how much doing it shot-by-shot improves the consistency of the scene. Best I’ve ever seen Star Wars look.
Hi DrDre,
The pictures look great. The only thing that I noticed is that Captain Antilles’ sleeve in the 5th row, 3rd image in (it shows a close-up of his sleeve and Vader’s face) on the second collage, doesn’t match his sleeves in the other shots. It’s much more saturated and brown. I’m not sure if that was intentional but it stuck out to me a little bit.
Keep up the great work. 😃
What can you get a Wookiee for (Life Day) Christmas when he already owns a comb?

If I recall correctly, that particular shot was damaged and was replaced using footage from the a 35mm '97 Special Edition reel.

That shot is more difficult, because it was based on a lower quality source.
Here’s a slight upgrade of the color grading to improve the skin tones:
New shots are being processed, so updates should follow soon…
Can’t wait to see what you’ve done!
While working on 4k77 I did a little test run for a possible future shot by shot color grading for 4k83 using Return of the Pug as a color reference. I wish I had more time on my hands:

I love it, but I get you’re busy.
I’m color grading about 15-20 shots of ROTJ as a sort of teaser for a future shot by shot regrade of 4k83, and to display what a good source of reference Return of the Pug can be for those that are interested in having a go at it sooner. Here are the first eight. More will follow…

Oh baby
It doesn’t hurt to offer help, but it always hurts to disregard those that do.
Here are a few additional shots:
Why are you double posting shots of Return of the Jedi here in the Star Wars thread.
And then people post a one word comment, and quote the entire image again, so we
see it 3 times.
It’s already in the Jedi thread. Am I missing something.

Because the audience for both threads is not necessarily the same. Some follow my own treads, while others might be interested specifically in 4k83 or news surrounding ROTJ. Since, this my own thread I think it is my prerogative to post, what I consider relevant to the thread or future projects, I might work on, while the post in the 4k83 thread is relevant specifically to those interested in developments surrounding 4k83.

You’re already being mean in another thread. Why subject us all to your meanness several times?

I hope she texts you back bro, I really do

Ok Dre, I was wondering why you do that.
You post very infrequently, so it’s not a big issue.
Its just that the Star Wars thread, when updated,
usually has information about it. Nobody goes there
expecting to see information about updating Jedi.
Maybe you should change the title of the thread.
Just a suggestion.
It’s just in the future, that it would be good to post
the relevant information in your thread.
That, and other people need to learn how to quote properly,
and not constantly repost the same image over and over.
Thanks for images, and keep it up.
Hope to see more in the future.
It’s oke, the 4k83 stuff will be done very soon, then it’s back to posting frames of 4k77.

Exxxxxxxxxxxxxxcellent! Can’t wait
Here’s the finalized set of preview frames for what will hopefully become a full fledged shot by shot color grading of 4k83 once the shot by shot color grading of 4k77 is finished:
Updates for 4k77 will follow later this week.
