The premiere is tomorrow!

I’m not. I have no doubt that the premier and finale will be great, but I’ve got a feeling that the in between will be entirely filler. I don’t give a shit about sky-whales, I want to see Thrawn, Maul, and Vader, damn it.
We don’t talk about the spacewhales.

Network television in a nutshell.
I really should watch season 2, because season 3 looks pretty awesome.
Not enough people read the EU.

Just watch the season finale. It’s the only episode worth the effort.

Well that’s a big load of bunk. There’s definitely some filler in there but the majority of it is solid.

The episode with Kallus and Zeb trapped together is one of my personal favorites. Very well done and spoke a lot about the differences between the empire and the rebels.
Definitely a great episode.

The last episode is one of the less interesting ones, at least for me. Among my favorites are The Lost Commanders, Relics of the Old Republic, Legends of the Lasat (for the Star Trek 5 vibes), The Honorable Ones, and The Forgotten Droid. In short, I like my Star Wars with less lightsabers and more exploration of concepts and characters.
You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.
Episode 9 Rewrite, The Starlight Project (Released!) and ANH Technicolor Project (Released!)
I would say that all season 1 is good; it’s only 14 episodes (special overture + 13 regulars) but it’s worth watching every one of them. But season 2… yep, too many fillers… so, I would advise you to only watch the following (12 episodes):
(2.01) - The Siege of Lothal
(2.02) - The Lost Commanders
(2.03) - Relics of the Old Republic
(2.04) - Always Two There Are
(2.05) - Brothers of the Broken Horn
(2.12) - The Protector of Concord Dawn
(2.15) - Homecoming
(2.16) - The Honorable Ones
(2.17) - Shroud of Darkness
(2.18) - The Forgotten Droid
(2.20) - Twilight of the Apprentice, Part 1
(2.21) - Twilight of the Apprentice, Part 2
It really should have stayed a 14 episodes format, with the good material of the 9 bad episodes infused into the others, the good episodes would have been even better. So instead of 14 very good episodes it’s just - for me - 12 good episodes (with a handful of great ones) and 9 mediocre (at best) ones. Still a better show than the overrated TCW.
edit: it seems I mostly agree with NeverarGreat here. Except for Legend of the Lasat (logicial since I don’t like ST5 😃).

Of course it is! I was inebriated at the time!

The lack of exclamation points!
Not very good the season 3 overture. The Sith holocron ends up being a bad idea and Ezra - very “Anakin oriented” here - is still a weak lead for the show. There is some novelty with the Force wielder character but it’s not enough; I really hope they’ll feed this subplot more in the season with better material (the dialogues are very poor), for now it’s not intriguing enough. All too easy.
Yeah, a lot of it felt incomplete. As if it were one installment of 20 or something.
I would put this in my sig if I weren’t so lazy.
As usual you’re trying so much to be the smart ass around that you don’t understand anything. Not a great surprise though.
Watched the new episode, and it was a’ight.
Kinda disappointed that they got rid of the Sith holocron so early. It looked like it was going down a super cool route, Ezra’s been using the holocron and he’s getting more power hungry. This seems like a really good setup for a season, but Bendu Ballet takes the holocron and we’re back to the status quo.
Did the holocron’s voice sound like Ventress from TCW to anyone else? I’m sure it’s not meant to have any connection to the character, but it could’ve been a neat little casting easter egg.

Yep, I don’t like the holocron idea (some kind of of “how to become an evil Sith” crystal audio book ? Mwé…) but the show does not seem to want to make something out of it. It’s one huge step forward (season 2 finale) and one (almost equally) huge step backward (season 3 opening). The season 2 opening was so much stronger to start a season. Even Thrawn is not properly introduced here; there is nothing about him (his behavior, not his look) which is new among the other imperials. Curiously, the Lando/Jar Jar mixed character Hondo is not annoying in this episode.
Now, the next episode title is “The Holocrons of Fate”, so I guess this story arc might have a proper ending (or another disappointment).
They should have just kept Holocrons the way they were in the EU. They don’t need to be any more complicated than being repositories of knowledge.
Premiere was fine. Struck me as mostly set up. Even before hearing the title of the next episode I was pretty sure we hadn’t seen the last of that holocron (or Ezra’s dark side usage).
Incorporating elements from George’s original conception of the Force was a nice touch. I wonder with this Bendu stuff and Rogue One’s Jedha if we should be expecting some interesting revelations about the history of the Jedi in VIII.
Just finished the episode. I really enjoyed it. Ezra is going dark (the whole rescue at the end was very definitely an allegory for the path he was starting down) and I’m certain we’re far from “status quo” at this point. Loved the Y-Wings, loved that they finally tied them into the OT (from their “first appearance” in The Clone Wars, though it’s a shame they won’t get a ton of use out of them!) Especially enjoying the West End Games shout outs, too.

It is definitely Nika Futterman. I’m interested to see if it’s Ventress’ holocron or not.
I doubt very much that we’ve seen the last of it.

That was a great premiere, sets the tone for the season very well. They’re walking a pretty tight rope, going darker but also maintaining a level of levity.
Also, yeah that’s definitely Futterman. You could also hear her voice at the temple on Malachor. I wonder if it will tie into Ventress or if they’re just using her voice to embody the dark side.
