Empire should have just ended with Luke taking Vader’s hand and the two of them walking off into the (dual?) sunset.
It had been a while since I’d seen Star Wars, and so I decided I’d throw them on in the background over a few days to get back into them.
Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back were as good as I remember them, but part of the way through Empire (and maybe due to my doing other things at the same time as the film was playing), I got to speculating about what it might be like if Return of the Jedi didn’t exist. It was interesting. For me, Jedi has always been there growing up. The movies always came as a set of three, so I never really stopped to speculate about what could happen in a hypothetical not-Jedi third film. It was interesting.
JEDIT: Oh neat, 10,000 movie posts.
I’m watching Jedi tonight. It’s not bad, as usual. But it could have been so much more.

Compeletly agree about Jedi. It’s like I have grown accustomed to the fact that it’s pretty decent movie so each time I watch it, I focus more and more on the missed opportunitys. Though Jedi is a better film IMO than the prequels, I would honestly say it’s more dissapointing.
Yeah, it almost is. They had all the ingredients there, too, everyone was still young and spy and they had good money and support and the best special effects team in the world and yet Lucas managed to just drop the ball.
It was lessened when the PT came out because those were just unforgivably awful, but now that TFA is out and good, it makes Jedi look worse again.

I would’ve preferred a trinary sunset, myself.

Re-watching “Star Trek V” and this film seems to be the first of the Star Trek movies where the villain has no motivation for his actions. The script seems to completely omit any exposition that explains that Sybok had been driven to his madness by repeated telepathic contacts since childhood from the God imposter. The shoehorned jokes are so cringe worthy. The effects are just horrible and cheap looking. Was that the same effects team that worked on “Superman IV”? 😉
I remember watching V as a child and being soooo bored. Even the scene at the end where they were having a shoot-out with guys on horses was boring.
The Person in Question
I never got the impression Sybok was nuts, just deluded and misled.
And yeah, the outfit they went to for the FX should never have been allowed near a Trek movie. Can’t recall if ILM was swamped or Paramount didn’t want to pony up.
Thankfully, TM2YC’s edit is well on it’s way to salvaging the movie. His new FX shots have impressed me.
Where can I find these FX shots, if I may be so bold?
You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

I read this without the context of the quote above it and thought you were talking about the 80s TV series V… I was thinking “shoot-out with guys on horses”? WTF?
He meant “shoot-out with lizards on horses.”

Glad I wasn’t the only one having V flashbacks. 😉
Where were you in '77?

Rosemary’s Baby
Really creepy. Probably one of the best adaptations of a book that I’ve ever seen.

Man, I saw that once. That was plenty for me.

I don’t blame you. It’s not scary so much as deeply disturbing.

Late Phases and It Follows both 2014. Both films have a late seventies early eighties vibe to them. The first one has elements of Stephen King, The Howling, a few visual mods to The Company of Wolves, even a small hint of Bubba Ho-Tep. The second takes it’s queues from The Entity, Halloween, A Nightmare on Elm Street. The first deals with aging and the later coming of age. Both had great character performances, great photography, and at least one scene that let them down and keeps them just shy of greatness. Still well worth watching. -45778877888777 n-forms.

Hate it.
You hate Rosemarys baby?
I don’t see how anyone could hate it. Unless they’re uppity about demonic pregnancy, witches selling their souls to the devil, and the antichrist.
The Person in Question
Maybe he hates the baby.
I found Mia Farrow annoying, Satan laughable, and the ending stupid bullshit.
So yeah, I don’t care for Rosemary’s Baby.
