I can’t really imagine why but okay dude.
I forgot that people could understand the robots in TFA. I didn’t like that.
Huh? Rey is the only character that could understand BB-8 because of her upbringing.
EDIT:
Poe probably understood Binary too.
Yes, and I don’t like that. No big deal.
I can’t really imagine why but okay dude.
Poe talking to BB-8 wasn’t much different from Luke and R2 on Dagobah, where Luke’s translator screen was at the bottom of a swamp for most of the duration. As for Rey, I just figured it was a combination of her having been on her own dealing with all types to survive on Jakku since she was a child and maybe a somewhat Force-enhanced sense of empathy.
Luke talking to R2 seemed more like someone talking to their cat. (“Want some power? Ok…” “Are you all set? Good.”) In TFA (as far as I remember) characters talk to the robots in a conversational way. I’ve only seen it once, so maybe I’m remembering wrong.
Again, it’s no big deal. I didn’t much like the movie, so it’s not something I’m stewing over.
Ray I insist you start a thread to discuss your thoughts on this issue. In particular I want to know why you think this is no big deal. Everything in Star Wars is the biggest deal. In fact you could say this is a bigly deal. Believe me, this is the biglyest deal.
I think it’s just him.
“We know what you think.”
I don’t, I’m not a telepath.
I wrote a bunch of words about how Timothy Zahn’s Thrawn novels incorporate lots of ideas from the development of the OT. You can read them if you can brave a visit over to TFN.

So TNT and TBS now have the exclusive TV rights to the first six SW films?
Very interesting – especially since in a 1988 speech to the Library of Congress, GL publicly denounced TBS founder Ted Turner for his colorization of classic B&W films. And then went on to warn that future copyright holders could digitally alter classic negatives to suit their own whims – as he himself began doing a decade later.
And now Disney is selling SW broadcast rights to Ted Turner’s company.
It’s looking more and more like the SE was an elaborate exercise in reverse psychology, where GL sought to stir up the public against precisely those things he warned about in his Library of Congress speech. (Kurosawa fans might remember General Makabe’s use of reverse psychology during an argument with the Princess in the opening of The Hidden Fortress.) And is Disney continuing in this vein, I wonder?

Oh good. I was waiting for the longest time to hear if someone got the tv rights for it. Suddenly a station got the rights and are airing them in a week? It will be nice that this time around they’ll be airing the Blu-ray versions. I was wishing for that when Spike was airing the DVD versions while the Blu-ray versions were already out.

Only you would wish to see ROTJ Vader scream NOOOOOOOOOO! on TV.
Well, at the time I didn’t have the blu-rays so I was curious about the changes. When I finally got it I saw they didn’t change as much as I thought they would. Sadly no CG Yoda in V and VI.

I’m beginning to think this isn’t the right forum for you.

But you’re still ok with Chewie ? CGI Chewie would have been so awesome. CGI 3PO and CGI flying R2 are also to be strongly considered for 2017 SE.
Ted doesn’t really run the company anymore. And Turner Classic Movies more than makes up for his colorization kick.
If they’re cropped to 16:9 and time compressed, they aren’t of much use anyway.
It’s odd Disney has never launched a dedicated movie channel with the formidable library they have even without Lucasfilm and Marvel.
Also odd this news is breaking less than a week before they air.
Where were you in '77?
I like practical aliens when they look good. But Yoda moves muppety and his movement isn’t as natural as CG would have been. Chewie looks fine cause he’s just a humanoid with fur. He don’t have a wagging tail or anything. I noticed that just now. Hardly any Star Wars aliens have tails. 3PO and R2 have always looked fine as robots.
The only problem I had with puppet Yoda is that his lips don’t move. I think Ady fixed that problem though.
CGI Yoda is very good and the animation is strong, but puppet (aka “real”) Yoda has something more, a physical presence, even the eyes have more soul than the CGI version. You would like Yoda to be replaced by its CGI version in ESB and ROTJ ? I would love to see the PT CGI version replaced with the “real” Yoda (not the creepy TPM puppet).
CGI Yoda actually replaced puppet Yoda in TPM.

“Creepy” Yoda, not “Real” Yoda. I’m talking about the very same puppet used for the OT. The guy is 800 yo, 30 years younger shouldn’t be that noticeable.

Mods, please lock this thread for a week in order to fumigate it. Thanks.
This has been floating around for a few days. https://www.cnet.com/news/star-wars-a-new-hope-soundtrack-on-death-star-vinyl/
I would put this in my sig if I weren’t so lazy.
30 years younger shouldn’t be that noticeable.
30 years older certainly is however:
AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

I feel you. What’s funny is that the TPM CGI Yoda looks considerably younger than the CGI Yoda’s in the rest of the trilogy.
