Hey Dek, have you ever checked out the Prime Directives mini-series?
Nope. Never heard of it until now.

Thanks for the spoiler alert on Full Metal Jacket 😉
Sorry. I figured it’s something that everyone’s seen at this point. Spoiler alert added.
I was just kidding. Even the mega Kubrick parody the Simpsons did a few years ago references that plot point. It’s as hard to avoid today as spoilers for Psycho.

They’re a little corny but undoubtedly better than the theatrical sequels.

After reading up a bit on Wikipedia, I think I’ll pass on that, for now at least. I probably wouldn’t be able to get past the absence of Peter Weller anyway.

I’m crushed to this day Robocop 4 was never finished! Elements of the screenplay were reworked into a Futurama episode though. 😉

Watched the Hitchcock/Truffaut HBO doc this morning and enjoyed the hell out of it.
A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)
Watched this film again, and I must say, the problems I had with it bothered me a lot less this time. The characters are all well rounded and realistically portrayed, and I really like the protagonist Nancy, who’s played pretty well by Heather Langenkamp. The very concept of the film is solid gold, extremely creative. The direction is excellent, Wes Craven manages to make even a scene outdoors in the middle of the day scary. Freddy Krueger is just fantastic. I love how he’s clearly having fun, but not stooping down to full on comedian like in later sequels, and the makeup used is great. The music is creepy and sets the tone very well. The kills in the film are creative and brutal, way more fun to watch than people just being hacked open with a knife. There are some things that still bother me, like the nonsensical ending, and other minor things, but mostly, I love this film.
8/10
A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge (1985)
I fully expected to hate this film, but… I actually didn’t mind it. It had a creative concept (even if it completely contradicted the first film), a good story and alright characters. The protagonist, Jesse wasn’t a bad one, and played pretty well by Mark Patton. He did a good job conveying what I think would be a horrible situation. The love interest, Lisa was also pretty good, and acted well. She wasn’t just a stereotypical bimbo, and did things to advance the plot. Freddy once again shined, and is it just me, or does his makeup make him look heaps angrier now? A far cry from bubblegum Freddy of part six, or plastic Freddy of Freddy vs. Jason. So, yeah, even though it had some stupid moments (the parakeet scene, the gym teacher making Jesse run laps in the middle of the night, that pool party massacre), I actually didn’t think the film was that bad.
6/10
Not enough people read the EU.
You see it now, even the shitty ones are enjoyable.
Don’t do drugs, unless you’re with me.
Freddy’s Revenge is the only non-Langenkamp entry in the series I don’t hate. If it weren’t for the silly bits where
Jesse physically transforms into Freddy and uses dream powers in the real world, it could’ve been a legitimately good sequel.
Suicide Squad - 4/10
An obnoxious piece of filth. Friends of mine begged me to go with them, and my ticket was paid for by a friend, so I went. I deeply regret it.
Imagine being bitten by mosquitos for two hours. That’s Suicide Squad.

Big Trouble in Little China
Went in knowing it was probably going to be a little silly but still wasn’t expecting all the supernatural elements! I did quite enjoy the whole adventure with the exception of a couple extreme cringe dialog moments. I thought the sets were quite good, immersed me in the unnerving, odd underworld-world and gave a good relief payoff once the gang (with the exception of the Euro green eyes girl) broke free. Overall a good unashamed adventure.
Gonna rewatch avatar and refine my opinion. Just bought the extended blu Ray and am quite curious to see if it holds up as spendily as I remember it.

Not as hard as Daisy but the blue alien chick is sexy as hell.

Fast 5 and onward I think they’re dumb fun movies that are quite enjoyable. I don’t care much for 1-4.

I was surprised by how stupid the F&F movies really were. 5 was a fairly solid movie but I find them all just to be bunch of (mostly) not-so-tough men posturing about, pretending they’re so cool and hardcore.

Someday, when (if) you grow up, you will (might) look back in shame at your posts (probably not).

Why would anyone be surprised by this?
I’m certainly not. If my sister likes it, I know it’s stupid.

Not really, no.
