I don’t think I’ve ever heard a Sufjan Stevens album all the way through, but I’ve adored every song I’ve heard in isolation. This is something I keep meaning to delve into and then forgetting about. Hold me to it, OT.com!
Anyway,
I got into Miles when I took a jazz history class in college, and at the time Birth of the Cool and Miles Ahead were my favorites of his records; I thought Sketches of Spain was kind of boring. I still rank those other two higher, but I get Sketches now. Snagged it on vinyl last week but I’m only just now getting to sit down and listen to it. Very good way to spend the twelve-to-one hour.
Sketches is so good.

In a Silent Way and Bitches Brew are my favorites of Miles. Kind of Blue is a classic, and is probably in my top three. Sketches is great too.
The Person in Question
My brain is telling me to go to bed when Sketches is done, but my heart (and my beer) say put on Kind of Blue.
That’s my go-to for quiet time.

Did indeed fire up another Miles record, but it was not Kind of Blue.
I loved the hell out of this album when I was 22, but I haven’t listened to it in years. Holy shit is it still great.
My favorite season, music wise.

Whoa, delayed double post.
Oh. Now it’s a real post!
And now I’m listening to Miles Davis! Help!

Wanted something a bit low-key but experimental tonight.

I’ll be curious to hear your reaction, as I’ve found that his albums contain more clunkers than I prefer. Overall I like him though.

Good collection, but the quality of the music takes a nose dive about half way in.

I listened to Rock Lobster last night. I never realized how long that song was.
It’s too long for a song about Rock Lobsters!

WRONG ALBUM!
Rock Lobster a great song! I don’t think it’s to long and it’s likely that you were listening to the Radio Edit which is more readily available and a couple minutes shorter than the original album track.
Cosmic Thing is an album I like, but for me it signals the beginning of the end for the B-52s. Ricky was the music man and his absence is felt very strongly here (he died while the band was completing their previous album). They followed it up with Good Stuff which isn’t very good and then disappeared until 2008 when they came back with a different, yet solid album Funplex.
Class dismissed.
WRONG ALBUM!
SAME BAND!
