72 kinds of items are banned from Convention Zone… But not guns:

Leaving politics out of this (hopefully), I think it’s important to have a thread where we can discuss normal everyday objects and how insanely dangerous they can be. While I certainly encourage you to point out the dangers of tennis balls, light bulbs, and hammocks, please feel free to branch out to pencils, thermoses, dog collars, and anything else that could (or has) created an imminent threat to the well-being of those people who have the misfortune of being around these sneaky death traps.

So how many people here have had relatives die because of mattress? 1? 2? 3? More?

Those people must know by now how DANGEROUS mattresses are. No, the biggest problem for our future isn’t global warming, or terrorism. No. It’s none of that. It’s MATTRESSES.

Now why are they so dangerous? It’s something that the mattress company will NEVER tell you. The mattress companies are realizing TOXIC CHEMICALS into your lungs every day you sleep. How do I know this? Here:

  • Notice that all mattresses are white
  • White is #ffffff, which amounts to 255,255,255
  • Add 1 to 255 and divide 256 by 8 and then divide 32 by two then subtract two (How many people sleep on a mattress? TWO!)
  • That gives 14 which is the chemical number for Carbon
  • How many hours of sleep should we usually get? 8!
  • 8 is the number for Oxygen
  • Carbon+Oxygen=Carbon Monixde

Boom.

You obviously have nothing better to do if you think a thread like this will liven up off-topic. It’s even no surprise that MiniFrink is the first to post a response.

What a waste.

I thought my Diversity thread was a waste but it gained 19 replies.

That doesn’t prove it wasn’t a waste.

I guess it didn’t resolve anything.

The pen may or may not be mightier than the sword, but if you’ve ever accidentally pushed down on the wrong end of a pen, you know they’re a serious threat to your thumb.

I’m picturing you sitting at the dinner table, trying to figure out how to liven up your tomato soup, and going with a single pinch of salt.

What a waste.

No sense of humor confirmed.

(well I guess technically it was confirmed a long time ago but this was a solid reminder.)

Did I give him too much credit with the salt thing?

I once spilled salt all over the kitchen. I could have easily slipped on it and cracked my head on a counter.

Necklaces. You can choke a person to death.

A bookshelf very nearly fell on me a long time ago. It would’ve killed me for sure, primarily because I’d have been stuck and alone for at least two days.

The Person in Question

Wooden chairs, what if they break? What if they splinter, or sometimes they’re just really painful to sit on in general (so hard and flat… no good).

My dog loves to chew up wood while outside, and a few small pieces inevitably end up hidden in the carpet after she comes in…and then I step on them with my bare feet.

Shower. They’re slippery. You slip. Your neck. You’re dead.

Ceiling fans. Gravity. They fall on you. They cut. You’re dead.
