Thanks for all the info/advice, Neverar! I think we’ll be in Dingle for at least a day, so that sounds like an excellent idea. Our trip is basically Dublin, Cork, Kenmare, Dingle, Tralee (briefly), Galway and then back to Dublin.

Star Wars concept artist Ian McCaig teased some VIII knowledge:
But here’s where it gets interesting… The meat really came at his mention of Rey, and then her mysterious background. He spoke of how Qui-Gon and Shmi had a romantic affair in early-mid drafts of TPM, and how you can still see the remnants of this idea in the final film. He also teased that (paraphrasing) ‘though none of these prequel-related concepts were able to be used outright, these ideas remain in the Lucas ecosystem, and filter through.’ AND, though he spoke thus quietly, he almost certainly then said: “…And now we have a new Skywalker.”
So Quiggly John did the nasty with Shmi off-screen and she gave birth to another kid in between TPM & AOTC – another kid whom I’m presuming would be Luke & Leia’s half-aunt/uncle?
Well, that’s a tad contrived.
As much as it’s the worst plot twist ever, the idea of more Quiggly John really quiggles my john.
Keep Circulating the Tapes.
END OF LINE
(It hasn’t happened yet)
Pretty sure if he said “And now we have another Skywalker,” he was referring to Rey.

Not to mention stealing from Frink’s version. 😉
Where were you in '77?
I smell a lawsuit.

Absurd! Rey’s too young to be Anakin’s half-sister!
Looks like Poe Dameron pulls a Lando and raids Han’s closet in this movie. How rude!

(seriously though looking great)
Part of me wonders if anyone high up even knows Carrie’s posting this stuff. Who cares!
Rian Johnson’s been posting stuff too. Here’s the holo chess table:

Poe is circa ESB Han and Rey is sporting Luke’s Dagobah training gear. Please, please, please don’t be another rehash, please?
Poe is circa ESB Han
If you take a narrow look at things, then yes. But, if you take a look further, you can see how many characters don’t really map to each other. Poe lacks the cynical edge that Han does. That goes to Finn. I think that no character is directly linked to another.

Oh I didn’t even think Daisy was in costume there. Though I guess it’s possible.
I have to say all these little set images look pretty cool, VIII hype is strong.
Aftermath: Life Debt revealed Hux’s first name. I wonder if we’ll see it used or not. I doubt it, personally, but it’d be neat to see.

I just came here to mention this but it seems I’ve been beaten to the punch. Spoiler thread, so it’s OK to say what it is, right? Armitage. His name is Armitage. Armitage Hux.
Kind of a bummer, but I guess it might be time to let go of the idea that the fleet admiral will turn out to be Thrawn if there are advance copies of Life Debt kicking around and no one’s brought it up.
I didn’t say the name because I wasn’t sure if this was the right thread for it, but yes. That is his name.
It’s not the worst name in Star Wars history. I could see someone being named that. Mind, I personally would’ve enjoyed a scene where it’s revealed that his first name really was General.
Looks like we’ll be getting some more quotables in Episode VIII though I don’t think anyone of them will be as widely used as “May the Force be with you”

I wonder about this all the time. Will we ever get something as quotable and widely used as that phrase? Will we ever get something that has the Earth-shattering effect of the original Star Wars? It just seems that the first movie had such an incredible momentum and it was released at just the right time that we probably won’t get something with the mega effect of Star Wars in this media climate.
I like Mark, the guy is funny and always in good mood. Just let’s not forget his job is currently to advertise the new SW movies. I bet next time he’s going to say “VIII might be the best SW of the saga” or something close.
I tend to brush statements like that off but more out of not getting my hopes up than actual incredulity. Anthony Daniels said the same of TFA and while I like the film a lot I vehemently disagree with his opinion.
It’s specific enough that I think there’s probably something to it. Yes, he has to promote the movie, but the fact that the script is the thing he singled out makes me think he’s legitimately very happy with that aspect. The “May the Force be with you” thing is definitely hyperbole, but I’ll believe Rian Johnson’s got some great lines in there. After all, this is the guy who wrote “I’m from the future. Go to China.”
“I’m from the future. Go to China.”
Out of context I’d think you’re being sarcastic but Looper is actually awesome.

I fondly remember when Anthony Daniels said that he thought episode 7 was the best script of the saga.
Though I like it a lot, I agree with Haseo in that it’s not as good as ESB (IMO).

You tend to forget that if ESB might be the best film of the saga, ANH still has the best script. ESB is “just” a sequel; ANH is a builder of worlds.

Just because ANH does a lot of world building doesn’t mean it is a stronger script. ESB does crazy world building itself. It is the best script in my opinion too. I just fucking love ESB. Chris Stuckmanns review nails it. It perfectly represents why it’s my favorite movie of all time.
