So the 81 crawl still has the whole frame bounce right after the 20th Century Fox logo. Also the crawl itself just looks off. The Star Wars logo gets more and more aliased the more it fades into the background. Also right when it’s about to fade out, it looks like a different mini star field, much more dense with stars, shows up, then after the logo’s faded out, then THAT part of the star field starts fading out, then the logo pops back up for 5 or so frames before finally disappearing again. I thought the frame bounce would’ve been fixed with 1.6, but I don’t know what to say about the 81 crawl itself. Was it that bad in the theaters?

It’s a reconstruction of the crawl, so no probably not. I thought maybe the reappearing Star Wars logo might be fixed. But now that I think about it, it may have only been brought up in the crawl thread and not here.

The mini starfield is an error on my part. I just checked to see what you were talking about. That’s a carryover from my pervious version which had a different starfield. It’s a recreation, and sometimes these things slip through the cracks. Nonetheless I’m glad you caught it. I’m not sure if williarob will consider it worth re-encoding and rebuilding, but either way, I’ll fix that at my earliest convenience.

If you encode it to the same settings as the Blu-ray, the folks at home who convert it into an MKV can append any updated versions to the film using MKVToolNix, but only if the video setting are all the same.

Perhaps better, then, if he encoded it losslessly and Williarob encoded the 264 (if this is something that he has any desire to do).

Author

If Williarob wants to do that, it’s fine by me. All of the files I render out of after effects are lossless.

Author

I’ll be happy to encode it as x264 with the same settings as the rest of the film. In fact I can probably do a partial mux and just re-upload the m2ts file for anyone who wants to swap it out.

Would that involve us using a patching program or are you talking about just wholly replacing specific files in the Blu-ray structure with new versions of those files?

Author

You would have to extract the files from the iso, replace one of the m2ts files then create a new iso or burn the folder. So, the disadvantage is that you have to do a little work to make it happen, but the major advantage is that you don’t have to re-download 40 GB.

Oh no, don’t get me wrong, that’s overall pretty easy compared to patching, was just trying to figure out which way you were going with it. I like this plan.

After doing that, should it work as-is or does it need to be rebuilt in some way (multiavchd, bdedit, bdrb, etc)?

As long as the correctly named files are where they’re expected, I don’t see why there’d be a need to run it through any special programs.

It should just work. I’ll check the timestamps on each of the files and include all of the files that get updated, but it’s only the m2ts files that are large, so even if you have to replace ALL the other files in the BDMV folder (except STREAM), that’s only another 200 KB. The crawl file is about 720 MB.

Yep, just wanted to make sure nothing is missed. As far as rebuilding goes, I guess I was thinking of cases where replacement m2ts streams are made using other software, etc. You’re just building the file again the way you did before, so it should be okay I guess!

Could someone post an extended image gallery of V1.6? Right now I don’t have enough space to download it.

Sounds good. I may need a step-by-step list of instructions, though… 😃

Hi Everyone,
As Williarob said we have some fantastic stuff we are trying to line up right now and this is going to be exciting for us all, I myself cannot wait, but we are trying to bust out some of our older stuff so we can move on real soon to the new!

Thanks

This bluray looks fantastic, thank you for creating it and for sharing it. I cannot fathom the amount of work required to complete this project…

Heh, always the biggest negative1 apologist on the site. And now literally demanding apologies from people posting on the myspleen comments. 😃

You don’t bite the hand that feeds you. Remember, N1 bought the print himself. He loaned it to poita and to MikeV so they could have their own scans of it done, and I believe (but do correct me if I’m wrong) that poita’s restoration is based on N1’s Spanish LPP as the primary print. Anyway, if you want to bash anyone and focus all that negative rage somewhere useful, aim it at Lucas, Disney, or JJ Abrams! 😄

No, my restoration won’t be using the Spanish print, but I am sure the scan done will be used by others.

Count on me to help seed an MKV 5.1 release, as, if it is not already clear, I will make no attempt to re-upload.

Count on you all being deceived on my behalf once again, as I may in fact attempt another upload because I’ve re-exported the movie using a different method and every technical issue found in the previous upload is no where to be found thus far. Those of you praying for the MKV 5.1, still keep your fingers crossed: I hope not to mislead anyone for the would be third time now but its still a possibility.

If you do upload again, would you consider putting in all three main audio tracks (5.1, 2.0, and the new mono) instead of just the 5.1 track?

I will consider it. At the moment, I’m experiencing some minor audio sync issues that only happens during specific moments. I’m looking into it. Are there any audio sync issues with the .iso, particularly in the Vader choking scene and when Porkins says “I’m right with you Red Three”?

Sorry for the double post.

Unfortunately, many of the same problems still persist(though, to a much lesser extent): some minor video issues and some major audio-video syncing issues.

@Dek Rollins I have informed the person who I mentioned in my first post (who also intended to upload the MKV 5.1 Only track) of the request of including the 2.0 and Mono mixes in the upload as well.

All right, I’m fooling around with these m2ts files in tsmuxer, and I think I get the principle of what I’m trying to do with the audio substitutions, but I need a couple of things clarified. I’m using the cutting feature to split the audio after the flyover, and it’s pretty straightforward for the first part, but how do I tell the software to cut the audio however many minutes into the second m2ts file, but to keep the picture from the beginning? Do I want to demux to isolate the audio, cut that, and then import it again to join it to 0004.m2ts? Also, if the crawl and flyover is 0:02:27:058 long, do I want to start the audio for the second part at 0:02:27:058 or 0:02:27:059? And I’m assuming when I have these new m2ts files, I can just swap them with the old ones in the BDMV folder? I get that this isn’t really the place to ask for technical walkthroughs, but I figure a good amount of folks here are probably trying to achieve the same thing. I’m happy to move this to a PM if anyone would like to help me out without further cluttering the thread.
