No disconnect. Yes we know you dont understand why some would like the prequels. Its called an opinion. Also you said Im not wrong to like a ‘bad movie’. That again goes back to what I said about speaking subjectively rather than objectively. You technically proved its not a bad movie if youre gonna respond to someone who thinks otherwise.

It has been proven to be a bad movie both here and elsewhere, and it’s a tiresome discussion that I’m not interested in repeating yet again. You are welcome to like any bad movie you want, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s a bad movie.

“An opinion” doesn’t explain to me WHY someone would like the movie. It’s a “what” rather than a “why.”

Beyond that, the idea that I’ve proved something isn’t bad because I responded to someone who thinks it isn’t bad…is nonsensical. The fact that Hansi thinks he’s funny and I tell him he’s not does not prove that he is.

Frink, you can’t prove that something is good or bad when it comes to taste. What people think of a movie is their opinion and there is no right or wrong. You can’t prove the PT are bad movies because that would only be proving that you (or others) think they are bad movies. It is all opinion. I don’t think they are fantastic, but I don’t think they are bad or horrible either. All you can prove is that you have problems with them. Seems your biggest complaint with my ranking is that I dislike TFA more than any of the PT. I have some serious issues with it that I find to be a game changer when it comes to rating it. Deride my opinion all you like, yours is still just a different opinion - no more right than mine.

Opinions can be wrong, your favourite things suck, and you’re stupid for liking them…

He also disliked TFA but whatever, I mainly just laughed at his/her tagline. There have been tons of things written here and elsewhere about how ROTS is an objectively bad movie.

JEDIT: Here’s his/her TFA review, not a big fan but certainly seems to understand there’s no objective way to call it a worse movie than the prequels.

If you acknowledge it, it’s gotta be good!

Exactly. Frink doesn’t comprehend that film is subjective. That’s what makes it so fun. Appreciating all opinions. You saying that it’s fine for him to “like a bad movie” proves that you think your opinion is the objective truth. You obviously don’t understand that there is no way to prove a movie is bad. It’s like food: if you don’t like seafood but someone else does, saying “it’s okay that you like that bad food” makes no sense. Film is subjective! Linking an article from someone saying a movie is bad is just another opinion.

Frink, buddy. Another persons why can another persons what. For example, I like Hershey’s without almonds yet most people I know prefer them with almonds. My reason for not wanting almonds is probably the reason why some would prefer almonds. It’s called personal taste. As I was trying to point out before the reason ‘you’ may not like the prequels is likely the same reason some may prefer the prequels. Now granted I put myself in the majority who prefers the OUT over the PT but I will accept the PT for what it is for better or worse. And just because something has been agreed upon by many as good or bad doesn’t always proof it’s good or bad. Majority does not equal everyone. I’m not trying to feud here with you just trying to explain. You have an opinion I will respect it but just remember everyone has different tastes and sadly that’s just life.

I enjoy the Gamera films. That’s my subjective opinion.

But they are objectively bad films.

Oh right, I forgot that opinions are never wrong. If you acknowledge it, it is true.

Not the Heisei era (including the rather nice Gamera the Brave). The Showa era… yeah, it’s bad.

I just dropped by to throw in some facts. Films cannot be objectively bad or good as there is no objective measure for that. And yes, opinion cannot be wrong or right. And the person who came up with the dumb example of moon landing dispute should better educate himself on a difference between an opinion and a claim.

For once, imperialscum makes a great point. Your moon landing argument is absolute bogus. Films are subjective. Frink, just get that in your head.

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS AN OBJECTIVELY BAD FILM

Flavor would be in comparison to a genre or style. I think an ice cream recipe would be a better comparison when speaking of a specific film.
