Just curious. If someone donates how would the finished version be distributed?

I would like to know that, also.
I feel that if a person donates to a project like this, he shouldn’t have to have the hassle of going through a torrent to get the completed project.
Perhaps if this project can be uploaded for a limited time. The link of this project can be sent to those that donated to the project and they will have limited time to download it before the file is removed.

It’s premature to commit to any dissemination strategies since options for our v1 release are continually changing over time. For now we’re focused on the task at hand, which is to compile the International Cut using IB TECH 35MM elements available to us.

If you’d like to donate to the project you’re most welcome. If so, please send me a PM.

On March 13 and 16, Cinemark is showing the DCP as part of its Classic Series at participating theatres listed in the following link:

http://www.cinemark.com/cinemark-classic-series

Is anyone here able to check it out? I’d really like to know how it compares with the MGM 4K BD.

I’m pretty sure that any detonators would have their request for a copy duly accommodated in some way. 😉 Not much point in discussing it though until there’s an actual release!

I’m really looking forward to what this project brings, IIRC the original plan was to simply recolour the 4KBD (and insert the full torture sequence) and release it in both cuts… but it would be so lovely to have a cleaned 3rd party scan of the film instead! So perhaps the project will fork in future, and people who have the technical abilities to clean up the scans would work on cleaning them for a release similar to TN1’s “silver screen edition”?

Someone over at the Sergio Leone Web Board posted scans (with red reduction) of 35mm elements. Pretty cool to see all this stuff popping up lately!

I finally found some time to scan some frames from my 35mm elements (the ‘cannon’ shots are from my trailer). Just as another reference regarding this endless color-debatte probably of some interest for some of you. My prints are slightly more reddish, I reduced the red during scanning. Otherwise the colors are just the way I saw them on the big screen (just 3 years ago I screened a German 35mm at our local cinema.)

Whoa! If I’m not mistaken, aren’t these shots, like, not in any currently available home video version?! This is getting me really excited!

I’m just here because I’m driving tonight.

The Spanish version is also (I think) the only one which uses the Italian intro as a template for the Spanish one. The other ones are based on the MGM’s English version.

So anything new at all? Just found this thread and it sounds absolutely incredible!

I’m pleased to update you all that, as of today, the scanning phase of the project is finally complete. Ahead is the time-consuming phase of digital cleanup.

That is AWESOME to hear. Any chance we’ll see a Grindhouse release?

There’s a strong possibility of a Grindhouse release, especially given the amount of time and effort required for digital cleanup.

The first of several NEVER-BEFORE-SEEN snippets of footage sourced from the truly mysterious Italian IB TECH 35MM has been posted online. It’s a few extra shots of AE, Stevens and his son looking at each other as AE stands in the entranceway. IMHO it really adds to the ominous mood of this scene, i.e ‘Death arriving at your doorstep’.

A video and a wealth of information pertaining to 35MM elements in the possession of the studios has been provided at the following link:

http://theeditroomfloor.blogspot.ca/2016/06/unseen-footage-from-good-bad-and-ugly.html

Enjoy and let us know your thoughts in the comments section at the bottom of the page (and, of course, here).

That’s awesome you got it all scanned! A grindhouse release of such a cool and complete print would be an amazing thing.

This is really exciting stuff!
Out of curiosity, how authoritative is this print? As in, is there reason to believe that this print is the true Italian theatrical cut from 1966?
(Sorry if the above has already been talked about…)

We don’t think so. It’s clear from the translated excerpt breaking down the elements in the studio’s possession (see part 1 of the blog) what comprised the Italian theatrical print.

The conclusion is that this print is an anomaly until more info is made available by the Italians (if ever).
