Damn it, now I need some burgers from Burger King, and I agree, McDonald Fries tastes good unless you put it in the freezer for 2-3 days. Soggy and wet.

I haven’t eaten McDonalds for yonks. I remember the fries were nice, and the fish thing was tasty, egg McMuffins were delish, there was an ice cream cup with Smarties stirred into it which I loved, but the thing I remember liking the most (somewhat strangely) was the hot chocolate!
Just out of curiosity, how close are you guys to a McDonalds? I live in the middle of nowhere and the nearest restaurant to me is about 30 miles.
There are eight right outside my window.
Slight exaggeration but you get the point.
I live in a part of Tucson that’s not exactly super built-up. That said if you leave my neighbourhood and turn left or right, you’ll hit a McDonald’s in about three minutes either way.

They’re everywhere! Even the Walmart here has one inside, and there’s a smaller drive thru one out in the parking lot. I’m reminded of a painting I saw ages ago, (might have been a book cover) where a mountain climber is on the threshold of Shangri-La, and you can see the golden arches peeking out over the last hill.
All the older ones around me are slowly being demolished and rebuilt, which makes me think the 70’s style exteriors will soon vanish from the American landscape.

I’m reminded of the KFC on 17th avenue in Calgary which only just got remodeled from its 80s-90s interior. You know, back when everything had that watercolour blue and pink wallpaper and the strange paintings and art of watercolour ships on the sea. It was an amazing time capsule. I’d forgotten what it felt like to walk into a 90s fast food joint until I went in once.

Funny thing is a lot of the old KFC locations are still standing in this area. They aren’t KFC anymore, but the distinctive sloped roof is a dead giveaway. The last old pure take out location around here, (no place to sit and eat) somehow managed to make it into the 21st century, before they tore it down and built a new one. I think some locations with the original giant chicken bucket sign still survive over in Los Angeles though.
My Mom would swear when they brought back the original recipe, that it didn’t taste the same as it did in the 70’s.

The same holds true for the old Pizza Huts. I still that distinctive roof and know exactly what it used to be. There was one in Calgary as well which is now an Indian restaurant.

Damn it, just heard a willhelm scream while writing this post, sad to see that old restaurants are replaced.

One of my most biggest self-identifying revelations on this site is my town’s claim to fame, being home to the first drive thru ever, and it was in a McDonald’s. Sally they destroyed the building about 15 years ago and replaced it. Don’t know what they were thinking.
I used to live mere minutes from the Albuquerque McDonalds where the woman sued for spilling coffee on herself.

I’ve always hated Sally. Now I have even more reason.
Anybody ever have a McD’s in their area that was testing out new menu items? McPizza and bratwurst were available from one restaurant here for a time in the late 90’s early 2000’s. They were pretty good, (my Mom loved the bratwurst) but never went national, AFAIK.
Also, check out the one McDonald’s you can’t order anything from. And it’s near the mall from Back To The Future.

June vacation, traveling in the PH, on a hotel room, and its scorching hot, unfortunately, they don’t have Wendy’s, which I really want to eat those, and McDonald food is littered with rice, Food Crtics.
So many things wrong in that excuse for a sentence.
Don’t do drugs, unless you’re with me.
On the contrary, the McDonalds in our neighborhood suburban community, (My home is the only one not suburban-looking.) Is been praised for its chicken nuggets, kids around the block would slide in McDonalds, and asked for Chicken Nuggets. It is basically their diet.
