They could create a fem 005 or a homosexual 0069 and bring in 007 as a supporting character, as Marvel brings other characters to support the individual hero films. A fem 00 might work if done well. Jolie and Johannsen have paved the way. I doubt I’d see a homosexual 00 if it’s primarily a pandering, identity politics gimmick. It would have to have VERY much to recommend it otherwise.
A homosexual Bond or Captain America would be a homo-militant attack on iconic figures of British and American masculinity.
I’m still recovering from being told we MUST believe allowing every pervy bi-sexual cross-dresser to prance into any Girl’s Locker Room is the most glorious idea ever conceived, or else we’re pure evil and deserve to SUFFER AND DIE!!!

Yay, the prodigal conspiracy theorist returns.

I wish you and Darth Id would just get into it and cancel each other out.

Conspiracy FACTS, my friend, conspiracy FACTS.

I don’t think anyone should suffer or die.
I do think your idea for female, gay or of non-European origin double O agents that aren’t Bond getting spin off movies is a brilliant idea though.
Bond is a pastey faced toff, male heterosexual. His entitled position informs everything he does. His colleques could and should be a diverse bunch.
Spies need to be from a broad group of people in order to remain undetected.

Toy Story 2 (1999) - 9/10

My goodness, I haven’t seen this in years! It certainly brought back nostalgia, as I used to watch this all the time when I was younger. It’s got some flaws, but they’re all minuscule and hardly detract from the film, which has glorious animation and terrific voice acting, plus some extremely humorous and emotional moments. It stands up just as well as it did when I was six.

I’m sorry, but, just… no. Toy Story (1995) I would give a 9/10, but I can’t fathom why someone would say one of the sequels is that good.

Yeah, but you can’t fathom a lot of stuff that is plainly evident.

My family and I watched Toy Story 2 just last weekend and it is a great sequel.

They’re definitely in the same ballpark. I’m not sure about Toy Story 3 because I’ve never seen it.

Toy Story 3 is a real gut punch, in a good way.

So I’ve heard. I don’t want to watch it because I know a part of my childhood will die when I see it. For some reason I really don’t want that door to close.

Yeah, a great sequel. I love the part where they could have written their own scene, but instead did a cringe-worthy ESB reference that doesn’t make any sense.

Toy Story 1&2 both get A’s from me, perhaps even A+'s (it’s been a little while). 3 gets a B+ or A-, the animation looks more real, but also has much less interesting designs and colors.

Also, they’re making a 4th one.

Okay. That’s one part of the movie. What about the rest of it?

(In light of my previous statement) Dumb Jurassic Park reference. Unnecessary sequel. Dumb plot. Al is a stupid villain (both in the sense that I don’t like him as a villain, and that the character is an idiot). Secondary Woody characters that I don’t care one iota about.

(Before you say that this is all very opinionated, that’s all it is, opinions. I don’t like the film, despite growing up with it.)

Unnecessary sequel

There are a lot of unnecessary but good sequels. ESB is one (since SW was a self contained story) and Rambo II was another. Just because something didn’t need to be made doesn’t mean it’s a negative against the actual film because it was made. And plus maybe it was unnecessary to you but when I was a kid me and the people I was around relished a sequel. We grew to love these characters and wanted to see more of them in a new story so on that basis alone a sequel was in no way unnecessary.

There are some. I usually use “unnecessary sequel” when the sequel has no purpose other than to make more money. If there is a sequel that properly continues the first film, I don’t consider it completely unnecessary.

ESB is one (since SW was a self contained story)

Fair.

and Rambo II was another.

What? Rambo sucks. I was actually expecting something nice when I first watched it, but it sorely disappointed me. And that was a very unnecessary sequel.

Just because something didn’t need to be made doesn’t mean it’s a negative against the actual film because it was made.

Maybe not so, but when a sequel is unnecessary and almost completely empty of worthwhile content, then I count it against it.

And plus maybe it was unnecessary to you but when I was a kid me and the people I was around relished a sequel. We grew to love these characters and wanted to see more of them in a new story so on that basis alone a sequel was in no way unnecessary.

Like I said, opinions. And like I said, I grew up with this film (and of course, the first one). Sequels were great when I was a kid too.

You watched not one, but two Beethoven movies?

To quote myself from a few months back:

DuracellEnergizer said:

I’m obsessed with rewatching every single movie and TV show I can remember having ever seen prior to August 2012 – the good, the bad, and the mediocre. I’ve even assembled a list to keep track of them all (I currently have [880] titles still to get through).

It’s sad, I know, but it’s an itch I have to constantly scratch.

Thankfully, these are the only two Beethoven movies I’ve ever seen, so I’ll never have to watch any of the others.

When the film holds no worthwhile content, I care.

Nope.

Contrived and silly.

Certainly not.

Well, that’s kind of the point. I certainly do not care about the three supporting Woody characters, because the only chemistry they have with Woody is forced and meaningless, and I don’t find them very likable.

Also 😉.

It’s a kids movie for fuck’s sake!

So is The Phantom Menace.

I still want kids movies to be intelligently made. (Like the first one.)
I’ll forgive some things for being kids movies, but Toy Story 2 was just a crappy cash-in sequel.

“A Girl Like Her” (2015) A high school bullying drama which is a mix of found footage and documentary that plays it straight but doesn’t try to trick you into thinking it’s for real.

It is as earnest, over the top and self-important as any teenager you’ve ever met and the ending might not exactly ring true to life but what an uncomfortably nasty 82 minutes that was (and I mean that in the most positive of ways!)

We all know bullies and the abuse in this film is very familiar (almost, but not quite, cliched) but it’s cleverly presented in a way that you begin to realise that an apparently black and white situation is actually nothing but grey for all involved. The film does a really good job of not passing judgement (although it’s pretty clear who’s in the wrong) and brilliantly focuses on the causes and effects others contribute to the bullying, often unwittingly.

It might lay the sentiment on a bit too heavily but that’s easily offset by the (mostly) outstanding acting and one of those stupendous moments which you get so infrequently in both movies and real life - the bad guy actually realising they’re the bad guy.

There are a lot of very well thought out nuances throughout. For example: the swearing is muted in all but one scene and that single use of the F-word is so much more effective for it.

If you’ve been bullied or have an abusive person of some kind in your life I think this film will be of interest to you. If you’ve got kids you should watch it with them, it’s just a movie but, in my humble opinion, it’s as powerful a tool as any to let them know the subject of bullying is not only something that the rest of us are aware of but something for which there are answers (if not solutions).

Yeah, I’m raving about it a bit. Maybe you’ll just be bored but it grabbed my attention! I really hope this film gets shown in schools across the world.

10/10 (seriously)

Predators (2010) - 6.5/10

I enjoyed it quite a bit. The direction was pretty good, I liked all the action scenes, I especially like that the tone was closer to the original Predator rather than the disastrous AvP flicks. I thought the actors all did a good job with what they were given, and I liked the characters (though some felt very disposable). I really liked Danny Trejo and Walton Goggins in the film, and their characters were fun. I think if the script had been tightened up and the effects done better this could easily stand next to the first film.

Not enough people read the EU.

Calling a beloved movie (100% approval rating on RT at one point) you happen to dislike a “crappy cash-in sequel” reeks of pretentiousness.
