Correct, the crawl / flyover is one clip and the rest of the movie is another, unfortunately they have to be subtitled (and supplied with audio streams) separately. Chapters can be applied to the final playlist, but audio and subtitle streams are handled at the clip level…

Thank you Williarob for your wonderful work.

As you are fixing some issues with the release, it might be interesting to fix a significant shift to blue in the color of the black bars during the scene starting at 00:31.

This is one frame before the scene (Black Bars with RGB=(0,0,0) ):

Seems like a color grading applied to the entire frame, including the black bars.

I agree that it may be as simple as needing to change the name of the project to keep from stepping on the toes of Negative1, on spleen and the like… And I honestly have never been a fan of the Silver Screen Edition naming (I dunno, it just didn’t describe the project clearly or directly enough). Anyone into the idea of selecting a new name, as a group?

Personally, I believe the name Team Negative 1 is no longer relevant since poita and Williarob et al. (re: the anonymous contributors) are pretty much the main players here with regards to handling the 35mm prints. Did negative1 come up with the name “Silver Screen Edition?” I never did like it, and if he came up with it then I like it even less than before. I’m all for changing the names of both the team and the project. Something simple like The Theatrical Edition/Version sounds spot-on to me.

But I’m just one of many voices here.

I think SSE should stay for this version, but I definitely support the idea for a new title on the Poita scan release. I also agree with the idea to change the team name.

Agreed. Seems to me like Rob and poita are carrying the load, as in managing the whole fucking thing, as in doing everything… seems a disservice to assign credit to another… But hey. Maybe that’s just me. I am drunk by the way.

I think it’s a good idea to change the name. I don’t think it will help with the spleen issues, though. Negative1 can still contact them and claim that it’s “his work” being stolen or something. Though I’d love to see his name removed from it.

Like it or not, Team Negative One did the bulk of the work on this project, all I did for this release was repackage it and make a few improvements, but that is on top of the more than THREE YEARS of work the whole team put into it already. It is based on a print that -1 found and bought and scanned with his own money. To rename it and pretend that Negative One and his team had nothing to do with it would be like taking Harmy’s Despecialized edition, adding some blu-ray menus and calling it something completely new with no mention of Harmy. You just don’t do that.

This project will remain “Team Negative One’s Silver Screen Edition”, end of discussion. Move along.

I appreciate the clarification Williarob. Your recent work has been so much more visible to us, so I certainly was under the impression that you had been doing the brunt of the work. I think most of us will be glad when Poitas scan becomes the base for future work.

In the meantime, it seems like we might be stuck in our same pickle when it comes to trying to distribute this work via 'spleen. Can you provide any comment on that (either here or via PM)? I would appreciate it!

I didn’t mean to offend, despite what all Negative1 himself has done to upset the community, I didn’t support–and was not trying to promote–the idea of taking away credit from him. My suggestion was aimed purely at the project title itself of “Silver Screen Edition”, and not removing credit for such an important contributor. I thought that tweaking how it is referred to would help both with its acceptance on the spleen and distance it from the extreme notoriety at large and the infamy that followed shortly after. Additionally, I wasn’t sure what you, the former team, or the community would consider more respectful: modifying and releasing new things under an old name with an original member no longer associated, or to use a new name that doesn’t specifically trivialize the relevance of the original release which that person did have a say in. Anyway, it is your call and there is certainly no arguing against Negative1’s influence and contributions to the project, so you should be free to honor and give credit as you see most fitting. There’ll be no argument from me. Moving along.

Yep. Sometimes I could recreate the missing frames, or find them on other prints, but here doubling existing frames seemed the best (or possibly just the easiest) choice - certainly better than black frames though.
