What is your personal canon?

What things do you personally consider to be part of the Star Wars story that you would be willing to watch? Here’s mine:

  1. The Cloak of Deception (9000 Series)
  2. The Approaching Storm (9000 Series)
  3. Clone Wars (Genndy Tartakovsky’s Series)
  4. The Labyrinth of Evil (9000 Series)
  5. The Force Unleashed
  6. Rogue One
  7. Star Wars (Despecialized Edition)
  8. The Empire Strikes Back (Despecialized Edition)
  9. Return of the Jedi (Despecialized Edition)
  10. The Force Awakens
  11. Episode VIII
  12. Episode IX

As of right now, everything else is non-canon as far as I’m concerned. (My opinions might change, though, after I’ve watched what I haven’t watched yet.) I don’t care what Disney says. What about you?

Rouge One, VIII, and IX are among my favorites too.

Haha, even though they’re not out yet, I consider them canon because they’re placement fits better than, say, the Han Solo movie might.

Also, a spinoff about Han Solo’s origins seems more spinoff-ish to me than, say, a spinoff about a girl and her band of teammate’s quest to steal the Death Star plans.

My personal cannon is the original OT and stories me and a friend are working on about a couple characters we’ve made (nothing to do with the Empire or Rebellion… yet).
Rouge One looks to line up with my SW world, so I’m hopeful about that.
I liked TFA, but wouldn’t say it’s part of my cannon just yet.

  1. Everything involving Naga Sadow and Exar Kun
  2. Knights of The Old Republic
  3. Knights of The Old Republic II
  4. Revan
  5. Star Wars: The Old Republic (only because of the entry in the Book of The Sith about Malgus)
  6. Darth Bane: Path of Destruction
  7. Darth Bane: Rule of Two
  8. Darth Bane: Dynasty of Evil
  9. Darth Plagueis
  10. Fall of The Jedi: Episode I - The Phantom Menace
  11. Fall of The Jedi: Episode II - Attack of The Clones
  12. The Clone Wars
  13. Dark Disciple
  14. Revenge of The Sith novelization
  15. Lords of The Sith
  16. Tarkin
  17. Rebels
  18. STAR WARS
  19. Weapon of A Jedi
  20. The Empire Strikes Back
  21. Return of The Jedi
  22. The Force Awakens

I’m not sure if Leia actually gave birth in The Last Command so I won’t include it because that may conflict with TFA.

Mine varies depending on my mood. I have yet to really settle on which versions of the PT it might include.

The Phantom Menance (The theatrical cut or alternatively a custom edit close to the theatrical cut)
Attack of the Clones (some sort of edit - haven’t really decided yet)
Clone Wars 2003
Clone Wars 2008 (I would love to edit the rest of the PT to match this)
Revenge of the Sith (I’m okay with most of the movie, but I think the ending needs some tweaks)
Rebels
3 Han Solo novels by A.C. Crispin (Kind of depends on the new Han Solo Movie)
3 Han Solo novels by Brian Daley (if the Han Solo Movie contradicts these then this take precendence)
Rogue One
ANH (either the original cut, the Revisted cut, or one that I have yet to create)
Splinter of the Mind’s Eye (yeah I know it kind of violates continuity, but I read it when it first came out and I still enjoy it and the comic book version - it’s a better written story than the PT or TFA)
The Empire Strikes Back (I like the SE edit better, but which one dominates depends on my mood - probably the 2011 BR edit with the updated Emperor)
Return of the Jedi (original Theatrical Cut - the edit I’m thinking of would have a few of the SE effects shots and corrections, but would omit virtually all the added scenes and the CG sarlac)
The Force Awakens (It needs an edit but I haven’t figured out how yet)
VIII
IX

Hate to repeat what has been said ad nauseam, but only the original trilogy. With all the contradictions and visual discrepancies, it’s impossible for the prequels to be considered anything other than expanded universe or plain fan fiction. If Obi-Wan says him and Father Skywalker were good friends, they were. If Tarkin assumes Obi-Wan is old enough to have passed away, he is. If the Republic is said to have existed for 1000 generations, it did. If Leia remembers her mother, then she was alive during the time Leia reached the age of reason.

But most of important of all, the Old Republic is described as “a more civilized age” and that the dark times began with the Empire. This not consistent at all with a corrupt republic filled in manipulable Yes-men and heroes who behead enemies they’ve just disarmed.

I’m still trying to wrap my mind about listing a film for the first two prequels and a novel for the third. Do you actually watch two movies then read a book to finish off the trilogy?

Yes…after reading that novel I don’t even want to watch any version of ROTS.

  1. Despecialized/Unaltered Original Trilogy
  2. The Force Awakens
  3. Episode 8: The Knights of Ren (my story treatment is available at Lord Haseo’s thread, “What do you want to happen in the rest of the ST?”, pages five and onward. So far the story has been relatively 75-80% well received. Twists that seem like terrible ideas don’t end the way you think they will so please be patient.)
  4. Episode 9: Rise of the First Order (haven’t even begun to write this one, but the title is perfect for the story I have in mind)
  5. Probably maybe all the future Star Wars movies that will be released (hard to fail as bad as the prequels; if Rian Johnson’s episodes 8 and 9 are better than mine, I will surrender and admit my stories are crappy fan fiction)
  6. Probably the Tales of the Jedi comics
  7. Probably Lost Stars

OOT
Droids Cartoon
Ewok TV Movies
Han Solo Adventures (Star’s End, Revenge and Lost Legacy)
Shadows of the Empire

Those are the main ones that aren’t official. I did read Lost Stars and have Twilight Company and Bloodline sitting on my to read shelf after I slog though the last 200 pages of Atlas Shrugged.

It seems like people are really embracing the new characters. In fact, the big question people ask me now about Star Wars is, “Are Finn and Poe gay lovers?” And really how the f*ck would I know? My second husband left me for a man, so my gaydar isn’t exactly what you’d call Death Star level quality. ----Carrie Fisher

LOL at video games being included in canon.

We get it that video games are too sophisticated for you. But you should know that in this case you are the laughing matter and not the medium you cannot handle. Or in other words, you are in no position to look down on things that are above you.

Play Kotor and you’ll see why but I don’t think it possible for you to see outside the dogmatic, narrow minded view of only watching the films.
