Could we perhaps get some hashes of the Despecialized Edition 2.7? I know there’s a CRC in the RAR header, but I’d just like to double check.
I fear that to get a version under 5 GB, you will have to find the software to do it yourself. I personally like files about 1 GB (small enough to load the entire saga on my phone) to for portability and for color checking, but I really don’t expect others to do the work for me.
+1. Just download handbrake and do it yourself.
yes, true. hmm… I am not on my PC right now(on my phone), I think that the file will be smaller if I chop it off to a x264 .mkv, or an .mp4, right?

On the bright ide, I created a x264 MKV of 2.7, with 2GB. (Is there a way to make Handbrake Process the file smaller than 2GB?) And on Google Drive.

I get the same values from my mkv.
Just want to say the new 2.7 version looks fantastic!!
Also, is there a thread somewhere for requesting a myspleen invite?

I am just gonna post my unofficial x264 mkv of 2.7 on the spleen, but I need to have permission so that I can post it, so can I, just post it?

You know what would be way better? If you posted the official NTSC DVD version of 2.7.
I AM NOW TV’S FRINK
I’m personally very much against a 2GB version being shared at all, let alone one made by someone, who’s just figuring out how to use Handbrake.

No, you’re more like that Colton a**clown. Very much so.
Lol, I usally use TXmuxer for doing stuff, I just tried Handbrake last week.

They’re different tools with different purposes. I agree with Harmy about leaving a 2GB version off of the spleen. No offense. These are the kinds of things people pull from piratebay and then come here and complain about. Since it’s such a tiny file, you could probably just put it on mega.nz or somewhere. If someone comes by looking for such a thing, you could PM them a link to it.
It would definitely be much better to just have the 2.7 DVD-5 posted. Tiny versions of high res movies are appealing to people who read the resolution (720p, 1080p) and think “oh, good. That’s HD. That’s the version I should get.”, and then rate it a 10/10 in video quality because they’ve watched what they were told was HD without going over their DSL cap.
If you really want a good quality 2GB encode, you might consider looking at x265 10bit.
I’ve done some blu-ray encodes with Staxrip x265 10bit right around the 2GB mark that look fantastic (takes longer to encode too, however).
Other downside would be lack of support for x265 on other devices; though if you’re just watching on a computer you’re fine.

I could probably get a 1280x544 encode down to around 2 GB and have it still look decent, but it wouldn’t be fair to call it the same thing, since it would require filtering that changes the character of the source.

Pretty sure I wrote something earlier, while being helpful on how to compress your own version, stating very clearly to do so only for your own personal use and NOT to share it anywhere, ESPECIALLY since you don’t know what the Hell you are doing. For the love of God, the last thing you should actually do is share that anywhere, it would be a complete disservice to the Despecialized Edition effort. No one here wants you to do it or would be at all okay if you go ahead and do it anyway. If you like watching your own version that most of us who know more about video compression would consider unwatchable, that is good for you; please don’t contribute to the problem of us having to deal with complaints from people who get files like this and think the problems they encounter have anything to do with the creator-endorsed versions.
