I’d be willing to help in any way. I’m fairly decent with SFX and have been working on making Episode I look more like the OT, so I’m a bit practiced.

Give me a scene and I’ll mock something up for you, as a bit of a proof of concept of what I can do.

Also I would cut the rathtar scene as it would be to hard. Snoke will be tricky as well

I don’t want to cut anything from the movie in my edit if it could help it, as for Snoke, I was thinking something like this:
Snoke

That the sort of thing that could work really well. It reminds me of the Fortress of Solitude from Superman The Movie

As for the rathtars, who knows maybe someone could apply some sort of stop motion effect to get them closer to the something like the rancor and AT-AT’s of the 80’s (hey that rhymed)?

I’m starting to think this scene might have to end up as Jabba in the Hangar 2: The Sequel, unless I can make a convincing enough stop motion effect.

Quick little question, anyone know where I could get my hands on a Stormttooper transport like the ones seen in the beginning of the movie. It could be anything from a toy, model, heck even a 3D model, I just need something I can move around and make fly.

Interesting idea. I’m not sure how you would explain Han and Luke aging 32 years in 3 years but this sounds like it would be a fun watch.

Lots and lots of great age makeup! 😉 Hopefully no one will notice, the actors aren’t really the main focus of the edit.

I love the idea of this edit. I have been toying around in GIMP trying to give a hand drawn matte feel to certain shots, and to add texture to the few bland CGI characters (Like Maz Kanata.) I have a really bad mockup image for Maz, does anyone know how to upload it?

I’ve tried to give her more of a ET puppet texture. (hard to explain.)

I wish I had the hardware and software to undertake this, sadly I do not. I’m sure that Emanswfan would be a great help with this idea.

To upload, try markdown-it.github.io.
You’ll have to find a place to host your pictures, for that you can try photos.google.com

Here’s an idea from me, whenever there is a shot similar to this:https://i.imgur.com/Fi0gqkp.png
Put small, just noticeable blobs of blue around the edges of a characters head. Since you’re trying to make this look like something from the 80s this effect will make it more obvious that the actor/s are in front of a blue screen. Empire had a similar problem as seen here: https://i.imgur.com/Ek9Hjej.png

I just thought I would give something like this a try.

file:///Users/valeriemidgettLaptop/Desktop/Screen%20Shot%202016-05-14%20at%205.39.10%20PM.png

It doesn’t look very good and would need a lot of work but it only took me a minute.

Perhaps elements from some of the concept art in The Art of Star Wars: The Force Awakens could also be of some use to someone.

I’ll definitely follow this. Sounds interesting.

I’ve been playing around with Snoke, and I’m not too happy with this, but I though I would share it so I could get some feedback:
Snoke

I took Bingowings’ suggestion of using the original emperor from ESB, and replaced his lips with Snoke’s

All I see is a minus sign with a circle around it

I see a grey “Do Not Enter” sign…same difference though

What if you replaced Snoke with Zordon from Power Rangers? Cheesier and you could lip match.

Preferred Saga:
1/2: Hal9000
3: L8wrtr
4/5: Adywan
6-9: Hal9000

What if you replaced Snoke with a minus sign with a circle around it? Or better yet, a grey “Do Not Enter” sign?
