It would be hilarious if the movie actually turned out good, and all the haters have to eat a crow 35 feet long, weighing approximately 600 pounds. 😉
But I already need to go on a diet.

Where were you in '77?
It really would be funny if that happened. But I’ve sort of got a feeling.
K. Let’s have this ride.

Now that’s a big twink…er…crow.
LOL

Unfortunately there’s really not much doubt about the dislike of the Ghostbusters trailer being due at least in part to misogyny.
Beloved movies/franchises getting reboot/remakes are far from something new (and neither are bad trailers). The volume here is telling (not to mention the comments).
Why is Peter Gabriel a much better solo artist than Phil Collins?
His songs are better.
That answer’s too simple. There must be a more complex explanation!
The music he creates and performs is more aesthetically, artistically and musically pleasing to the Human senses.
Does that work?

SONIC RACES THROUGH THE GREEN FIELDS.
THE SUN RACES THROUGH A BLUE SKY FILLED WITH WHITE CLOUDS.
THE WAYS OF HIS HEART ARE MUCH LIKE THE SUN. SONIC RUNS AND RESTS; THE SUN RISES AND SETS.
DON’T GIVE UP ON THE SUN. DON’T MAKE THE SUN LAUGH AT YOU.
It’s not Shakespearean, but it’ll suffice.

Where was the massive backlash against TFA? I know some racist and misogynist fools came out and complained, but the trailers were received positively. The Ghostbusters trailer was received poorly because it was an unfunny trailer.

Peter Gabriel is incredibly talented and made creative music. Phil Collins went the pop star route.

Ghostbusters is a beloved franchise and they released a trailer for a remake that frankly, isn’t funny and has some very bad SFX; when the monster effects from the original look better you know you’re doing something wrong.
It has nothing to do with women being in the lead, like another poster said, the TFA trailer wasn’t annihilated by fans for having a woman in the lead, it was universally loved.
While I think TFA is a pile of crap I don’t dislike it because the lead is a woman, I hate it because I don’t think it’s a good film.
Clearly lots of people think that Ghostbusters just does not look like a good film.
The main complaint is that this comedy film is not funny, not that the leads have vaginas.
Stop using buzzwords as a scapegoat, they don’t help your argument and they don’t hold up to scrutiny.
Buzzwords scapegoat and scrutiny, lol.

OT fans think they can steel words from PT fans.

“They don’t hold up to scrutiny” is some A+ imperialsum-level wordsmithery.

Or perhaps it’s because it wasn’t funny. Literally none of the jokes in the trailer hit, for me at least. It wasn’t necessary to reboot Ghostbusters in the first place, and people always complain when movies are rebooted. It just doesn’t help that they’re rebooting a beloved comedy.

We are talking two different fanbases here. There was a thread over at DVDtalk that was closed down because the criticism became very crude and misogynistic.

I couldn’t imagine Impscum defending the PT while hating TFA. We got to give the man some kind of credit.

I’m pretty sure he has at some point. But I was just joking around about the sock.

Apples and oranges. TFA wasn’t a reboot and featured returning cast members. One female lead vs. all. The trailers were fantastic.
Not saying the only reason why the Ghostbusters trailer is so disliked is because of misogyny, if it’s a bad trailer it’s gonna get dislikes, if it’s a bad trailer for a remake/reboot it’s gonna get dislikes. I’m just saying it’s the misogyny that is pushing this to record numbers.
I’m sure that a crappy girl-power movie brings misogynists out of the woodwork, so I’m not doubting that, but I think we might be disagreeing on whether or not being opposed to remaking Ghostbusters with women is misogynist in and of itself.
EDIT: Also, I would call them apples and oranges, but because TFA was a real movie that happened to have a female lead; Ghostbusters is a pointless remake with one of its main purposes and gimmicks being replacing the original cast members with women. That’s why it’s so hated.
As I said, I’m sure a disastrous trailer like this with such a goofy premise draws misogynists in from all over the internet, but let’s not pretend that this would have been received well had it been the same trailer yet with four men.

I wish there was a simple way to mix a censored for tv audio track of a movie onto a blu ray picture. (Well there would be if captures like that were common).
I know they are inferior to the originals, and foul language doesn’t offend me at all, but it does my dad. There’s several movies I would like to watch with him (the most recent example is The Crow) that I know he would otherwise love but I know the language would hamper his enjoyment.
