So, I created an account on Netflix Canada today for the first time since I had to give it up back in 2012, and the content available is worse than it was back then. How the hell is that even possible?

Just saw a trailer on youtube. They are remaking the Magnificent Seven, which was itself a remake of The Seven Samurai. The new movie stars Denzel Washington.

Everything has to get remade nowadays.

Well if it’s been done before it’s worth doing it worse

Especially if there’s potential for millions of dollars.

I wonder what the future remakes of the few original movies these days will be like.

I’m not so sure. They tend to avoid the untouchable classics like Wizard of Oz. They may try to make a sequel or spinoff or some other stupid thing, but I doubt they’d do a straight-up remake.

You guys didn’t see the Casablanca remake from 1995? 😉

There were also two tv series based on Casablanca. One in the 50’s, and another in 1983.

Even the Chuck Heston Ben Hur is a remake of the silent version.

Michael Jackson actually did a remake of Wizard of Oz…it is a performance I can never quite properly erase from my mind…

You mean The Wiz? That was originally a Broadway musical. In any case, there’s wiggle room when the source material is a book.

I can only click through a couple threads before coming back to Off-Topic. My posts are incredibly rare in General SW, and are diminishing rapidly.

Sounds like you have quite the burden there. Just let it go man. It’s just like Michael Jackson said: Don’t you carry nothing that might be a load! Ease on down, ease on down the road!

My preferred explanation for the Force and Force-sensitivity:

The Force is like radio waves and all living things like radios. Most of these radios can only receive the waves, but some can transmit them, too. Why? They just can.
