STAR WARS: EPISODE VII: The Shadow Revealed (FAN EDIT BY THAT_OT_RULER) NEW PREVIEW CLIPS — Page 3

We’re told what could be a false premise (like how Obi-Wan told Luke Vader betrayed and murdered his father) and that’s all we need to know for now. But if you really want to go in depth we should take this to another thread.

Now about your edit…have you found some way to remove all or most of the music? I’ve been messing around with the Rey v Kylo duel and even though I delete all audio channels (except the dialogue/sound effect channel if course) music still plays during that scene

The music is present in every channel. That’s the tricky part. However, you can go through each channel and pick out individual sound effects, cause some channel’s music is less audible than others. Also, some primary sound effects are in the main channel too. It’s honestly a big jumbled mess. It sounds good, but the organizing is awful. As for the Rey and Kylo, I’m going to have to mainly use my own sound effects. Same with the resistance X-wings fighting on Maz’s castle.

That’s sad because implementing sound effects at just the right time should prove to be a tedious tedious task.

Oh, it totally is. It’s why my edit is taking a long time. I’ve already got my main edits done, it’s just the godforsaken audio. As for replacing sound effects in some places, I don’t mind. Most of the lasers and stuff sound freaking cool, like when the Millennium Falcon flies into the ship on Jakku; those laser sounds from the Falcon sound really explosive and cool. But on the other hand, the explosion and laser sounds for the X-wing fight on Maz’s castle, sound really lame. Really nothing impressive or special.

Completely agree with your take on how the lasers sound. But the sounds of lightsabers clashing in TFA is different obviously and I’m one of the fans of it. Do you plan on trying to restore what the sabers sounded like in TFA or what they sounded like in previous films?

Isn’t there a repository of Star Wars sounds official released by LucasFilm? If so I hope they update it with the sound effects in TFA 😃

very interesting while I have no problem with the music or colors of TFA it is really cool to hear the new music you added and to see TFA fanedits take off I love the theme starting when Han and Chewie come through the doors blasting away, one word EPIC

Actually, I downloaded 4 GB of sound effects ripped from EA’s Battlefront. Tons and tons of original trilogy sounds in great quality, with forest Endor sounds, vehicles, people, weapons, explosions, and so much more. It’s amazing. I own the game too. Really love it.

Also, update, the one scene I will not be replacing the music for is Rey’s vision. Trying to fuck with the audio in that scene would remove and ruin the little hidden sounds and vocals lurking in the vision. Leaving that scene alone.

It would have been impossible to have some other type of music that fits with the intensity of her vision…And while you’re at it you should just keep in Rey’s theme as well 😃

+1 and Kylo Rens theme, And Jedi Steps. I’m fine with replacing everything else

God dang it, the music being present in every channel really makes me mad. Other movies I’ve worked on don’t have this problem. At this rate, with noise gate, voice remover, and other code programs, I’m going to have to replace more than 50% of the sound effects.

You must never have worked on a Star Wars movie then. They’re all like this.

Yeah, not on a Star Wars movie, but films like Saw and the 2005 King Kong have much better audio channels than this. Oh well. I’m close to half way through the 6 channels. Managed to get a decent amount of sound effects out of the movie, but will definitely have to supplement with extra sounds.

At risk of veering off-topic, what did you do with “Saw”? Genuinely curious. You can PM me if you don’t want to clutter the thread.

I don’t have the edit anymore, and I unfortunately never uploaded it, but I cut back on some of dialogue that was a little too cheesy, mainly from Adam. Also, during some of the tense scenes, like the finale car chase, I slowed down and cut out some of the shots that were sped up and little too flashy. Other than that, I didn’t do much. Just mostly dialogue cuts. But the music in the movie was in its own channel. So with one simple mute button, I could have the whole movie without music. It was beautiful.

Happy May the 4th everyone!

Sorry for not being as active. You already know the reasons. I’m still working on the edit the best I can. I’m close to being 1/4 finished to making a complete audio overhaul, with all the music removed, EXCEPT for the vision sequence. If anyone would want to join me in my efforts, please do! Try editing the audio yourself.

But anyways, for today, I got a few new preview clips, including the first 5 minutes of the edit! (Music only)

NOTE: THE COLOR CORRECTION IS KIND OF MESSED UP IN THESE CLIPS.
Thanks for your support and enjoy.

Thanks! I will be fixing the color correction on those parts. Also, thanks Smithers! Can’t wait to hear what you’ve come up with!

I think you uploaded this clip already but that doesn’t matter because the shit is perfect. Can’t wait to see this with the sound effects added 😄

This one however is hit and miss for me.

1:53 - 2:12 is perfect

2:13 - 2:30 is pretty good to but the slow build in Attack on The Jakku Village is more effective imo and it makes the shot of the Storm Troopers with the frenetic music more impactful.

2:31 - 2:58 feels totally out of place and conflicts with the tone of the scene itself and the original music that went along with it. The music isn’t bad but I think it would be effective to use it elsewhere in the film.

2:59 - 3:53 is great

I think 3:54 - 4:15 should be start when he just begins running.

4:17 - 4:28 feels a bit off tone wise but works

4:28 - 4:29 is perfect

4:41 - 4:50 feels off both in tone and music. It just doesn’t fit at all to me

4:51 - 5:03 is pretty good

5:09 - 5:18 doesn’t quite capture the tyranny of the events going on screen

5:19 - 5:40 is near perfect

the music from there on fits in pretty well too.

I will have more preview clips coming later today!

Looking forward to it.

You really have musical timing down! Stay tuned, my music free tracks are coming along, you’ll be able to synchronize it to the original movie so you should be able to just drop it into your edit.

You magnificent bastard.
