Like World War Z (which is a perfectly watchable zombie film most of the time if you forget the title) it was okay until the final act when it just becomes a weird screensaver of buildings falling down and people flying into circular cloud shapes.

If Supes could stop Zod at any time by snapping his neck wouldn't the wise thing be to do it before he knocks down a good chunk of a major city probably killing hundreds of thousands?

I hope Kal-El found a super global repair kit thing too because that giant thumpy thing must have done a bit of damage.

The final fight is nowhere near as exciting as Superman II (any version).

I presume something was wiping out the Kryptonian colonists (Brainiac, The Eradicator??). They are a bit crap as god like advanced beings otherwise.

Couldn't help but notice how Gallifreyan Krypton looked in the film (they even had the gene looms from the Carmel plan).

Bearded Superman was bearded though.

Rubbish forum software won't let me quote and reply at same time. Can't be bothered to work it out. Sure point's not that interesting.

If you use the 'reply with quote' option at the bottom of the post a reply box should open with the quoted text inside and the cursor to continue with the reply outside the box.

In my experience it's a pretty standard forum format and works rather well so I wouldn't call it stupid.

Give it another go with my earlier post and try writing what you wanted to say last time.

For the record;  I've never been a big fan of Superman.  He just isn't my style of crime fighter.  I've seen the 1978 film, the 2006 film, and I've read a handful of the comics over the years.  The two films I have seen were fine.  Not being emotionally invested in the character, I didn't have strong feelings one way or another.

That said, I was somewhat looking forward to this new take.  I was skeptical about the new look and darker direction, but again, no strong feelings either way.

I never got around to seeing this new one in the theaters and judging by this thread and conversations with co-workers, I haven't missed much.  Dark works for Batman (my hero) because he's dark.  Dark seems risky for Superman because he isn't.

I'll give it a look when it's on cable.

I re-watched this film on Netflix, and there were like, 4 good moments.

superman as a character went downhill for me right after george reeves died, not much good after that, save for a few cartoons.

Well, John Byrne was at the top of his game illustration-wise when he pencilled Man of Steel, and I liked most of the ideas he brought to the table for the post-Crisis Superman, but the guy’s a largely mediocre writer, so his execution of those ideas were very middling; it was only after he left the Superman comics and other, better writers took over that –

Oh, wait – I forgot we’re talking about the movie. Sorry, still don’t want to see it.

You’re better off not seeing it. MoS is absolute trash. BvS at least has the benefit of being over-the-top absurd, but that’s the only thing it’s got going for it.

Both of them are trash.

If the trailers are anything to go off of, Will Smith will ruin it singlehandedly

Will Smith + Nicolas Cage in one movie. We need that.
