They’re in the right, but it’s their own Kobayashi Maru, since on the surface it looks like yet another big bad company throwing lawyers at the little guy. Perception is everything.

This is also a slippery slope to suing every fan production into oblivion.

Maybe they should retroactively sue Lost In Space while they’re at it. 😉

Well legally they may be right (I’m definitely not an expert on American copyright laws) but they don’t understand the main rule - never piss off the fans 😃

It’s also laughable that they would even try to claim transporters are unique to Trek. Buck Rogers was beaming back in '39. 😉

Aren’t there lots of unofficial Trek books out there being sold for profit? Maybe not but I’m pretty sure I see some when I’m at book stores.

How dare you? Next time you will tell me Star Wars isn’t a historical drama.

Look at my avatar. I have never claimed Star Wars didn’t happen.

When I look at your avatar, I begin to miss your Stinky-Dinkens/Frink avatar.

SONIC RACES THROUGH THE GREEN FIELDS.
THE SUN RACES THROUGH A BLUE SKY FILLED WITH WHITE CLOUDS.

Now I miss the one from before Stinky-Frinkens. And Harmy’s Yoda/Joker face. I’m off topic too.

And didn’t Roddenberry get the idea from the original The Fly?

The version I’ve heard is that it was inspired by the beams the crew in Forbidden Planet step into to survive the deceleration of their ship to sublight speed. There are a couple other things in the movie that seem to have influenced early Trek.

Note United Planets’ insignia on the hat.

Star Trek Animated will be released on Bluray later this year.

I had to double check the date to make sure you weren’t messing with me. That’s awesome.

Netflix has had the HD stream for a while, this seems to just be a matter of burning the discs!

Meanwhile, I’m hearing that CBS All Access only has the SD versions of TOS & TNG, which is hilarious to me.

About damned time! Wonder if there will be any new extras?

If only they could find the voice tracks for the never released Secret of Vulcan Fury game, and make a new animated episode out of it.

The guy who did the new extras for TNG (sorry I’m not good at remembering names) wrote years ago (2013 - 14?) that he has been asked to shoot some new extras for TAS

It’s a little scary how easy it is to recreate the Filmation style these days. I’ve seen a fan made episode or two on youtube. The current Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles tv series even has a TAS parody one of the characters watches obsessively.

The Filmation style was by design incredibly basic to cut costs as much as possible. Given how few key frames it requires it is very easy to emulate.

I’ve always admired it for that. Along with its slightly more sophisticated forebear Jonny Quest.

I don’t know how anyone could admire Filmation*.

*Needless to say, I hate that studio with a passion.

They weren’t always cheap, and they did some cool shows, like the live action Jason of Star Command and a pretty faithful adaptation of Flash Gordon. Why the movie version of that isn’t on DVD I have no idea.

I hope they fix the color screwup on the TAS episode The Time Trap. All the backgrounds in the Delta Triangle universe are supposed to reddish, and they were turned black for the DVD. If they’re going to monkey with the colors, they could at least make Commander Thelin a proper shade of Andorian blue!
