So when people say that he’s supposed to look older than typical batman in this story, is that just nonsense do you? Is the concept of people who are older looking older just lost on you? Are you a goldfish?
No, but he was still playing Batman just a couple years ago, right? Anyway, that wasn’t my point. My point is that they won’t be replacing Affleck anytime soon.
.
yeah but my point is bale started playing batman much younger thats why he was able to make more than one movie playing batman.whereas ben affleck is already so old i doubt he will be playing batman for very long.they will have to find a new batman very soon because affleck already looks too old.

Are you a goldfish?
That would explain a lot, actually.

Yeah. One of the trailers even highlights that with Affleck’s Wayne lamenting that he’s getting too old for these kinds of adventures and Jeremy Irons’ Alfred quipping that even Wayne has grown too old to die young, “not for lack of trying.”
Q: has anyone on here seen the film yet, or is planning to? According to Business Insider and The WSJ, there’s been a number of bad reviews so I’m curious about OT opinions.
“Logic is the battlefield of adulthood.”
Harmy saw it and he loved it (said 4/5 on Twitter). He says Superman’s characterization has improved greatly since MoS (which he hated). I’m seeing it tonight and I’ll give my thoughts in my Ranking Superman thread.
.
Thanks, I’m tempted to go and see it, so I look forward to your assessment.

The reviews seem pretty split. Last I checked, regular critics are hating it but fans of the comics are loving it, as well as mainstream audiences. Rotten Tomatoes has the critic score at around 35% but the audience score there says around 80% last I checked.
And of course Snyder’s fanboys claim Disney/Marvel is paying all the critics to bash it, but that’s total BS. If anything, WB is paying them to get all the bad reviews so people will hear about and see it for themselves. I’ve seen lots of people on Twitter saying that they had no interest in the movie until the critics started bashing it.
.
Fuck Ben Affleck. Even if I wasn’t oppossed to any Superman universe where Jonathan Kent says it’s okay for Clark to let people die to protect himself, that mediocre turd of an actor would have alienated me regardless.
Fight the real enemy: Zack Snyder
I have refused to see any of his films after Watchmen, and I knew the Superman films he made were going to suck right away. He is such an awful director that he is one of the few people that deserves to die for making a bad film. Why did Warner Bros hire this jackass to helm Man of Steel/ Dawn of Justice? They’re Holocaust dramas disguised as superhero films.

I loathe Hack Snyder to the inner depths of my black soul, but man – c’mon!
Where would MST3K, (or Rifftrax) be if bad movie directors were put to the sword? Live and let live.
Where were you in '77?
Didn’t Snyder lobotomize a teenage girl at the end of Sucker Punch?
Warner Bros. confirms that Ben Affleck will be directing Next solo ‘Batman’ film.
Warner Bros. transported the DC Films universe to San Diego to kick off its Comic-Con panel in Hall H on Saturday, bringing out directors David Ayer (Suicide Squad), Wonder Woman (Patty Jenkins), Zack Snyder (Justice League), Rick Famuyiwa (The Flash), and James Wan (Aquaman).
But then, they were joined on stage by none other than Ben Affleck, the actor who most recently brought the Caped Crusader to the big screen in Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Affleck is directing and starring in a standalone Batman film, it was officially announced after months of rumors that he was working on the project.
“It’s really inspiring. It’s like taking on a great play. It’s been reinvented so many times, it’s terrifying but it’s exciting,” Affleck said. No release date was confirmed, but the Batman logo was slotted between standalone films for The Flash (2018) and Cyborg (2020).
The panel, which was moderated by Conan O’Brien, also brought the first trailer for Wonder Woman, starring Gal Gadot as the titular hero.

I thought Ben Affleck was pretty great in Gigli.

That’s actually great news. Ben Affleck knows how to act and he knows his way around behind the scenes. His direction in Gone Baby Gone is masterful, I’m looking forward to the next line of DC movies!

Sadly, they just released a depressingly awful Justice League trailer at SDCC, and an okay-but-ugly Wonder Woman trailer.
.
The JL trailer was OK, it was just a compilation of the funny moments from the first act. My only concern from that trailer is that Bruce Wayne seems way less serious than he should be.

They’re doing a very tryhard version of the Avengers so everyone in the DCU is just a low-rent ripoff of Avengers characters, haha.

I thought the Justice Leauge trailer was pretty strong but all their humor combined in those couple minutes still aren’t as great as the one last scene of the new doctor strange trailer. Marvel NAILS humor. DC has been hit or miss… Cough cough “every one of perry whites cringey jokes in BvS”.
But the Wonder Woman trailer blew me away! I wasn’t excited at all for her standalone but this trailer really got me legitamely pumped! DC I think had some great stuff shown at comic con. It does make me mad how reactionary all their content is though…
“Ohhhhhh there’s too much death/destruction in Man of steel!” cries out hoards of fans. DC decides to remind the audience fifty million times that the climatic battle location in BvS is deserted. “Luckily every one is off work and this area is entirely deserted”.
Then people complain further…
“BvS is too dark! No fun! No Levity! This sucks” DC then comes out with a trailer filled to the brim with jokes that basically send the message of: “hey guys were not dark anymore. We’re just like marvel, yah! We wanted to be dark cause that’s cool but we guess being funny and light is the only thing that can make money. You like?? 😃”. I wish they just hired good writers and stayed bold and true to a good vision from beginning to end and not constantly react to every fan response. I personally liked a dark take on superman and other characters but just thought they could have crafted a better story. The tone wasn’t the biggest issue. It was character development, story problems and atrocious editing. Happily the UE fixes many of these issues.
The Justice League trailer looked pretty meh, but at least everyone looked like they were having fun, unlike those awful other two DC movies. Wonder Woman had me laughing, it looks so awful.
Not enough people read the EU.
Wonder Woman was just Thor and The First Avenger combined, but whereas Thor and Captain America fit well into the world of the MCU, Wonder Woman looked like she was cut out of another movie and pasted into a World War I film.

I still don’t think Cyborg belongs in the JL. He should be a Teen Titan, like he used to be, but they had to change that in the New 52 because reasons.
