Oh, at night. Of course. Hmm. I have already rendered it. Again. But maybe I’ll take a look at it. Forgot about that one.

Wish I’d come to think of it sooner 😕 Harmys scene totaly works if it stays though, but gout will be gout… 😉

Yeah. So, on that note lets all try to think if we’re forgetting anything. 😃

I honestly don’t remember how this shot looks in SSE. I know I was happier with Harmy’s color timing in the surrounding scene, and that SSE had some tramline scratches that weren’t 100% fixed. But the shot itself might be fair game depending on how it looks. And a quality shift for that shot is inevitable no matter what version you’re watching, so that might make it more feasible.

And the film even as is will still have plenty of GOUT-using shots. It’s not like we’re going from RoTJ 2.0 to 2.5 and cleaning up the last bits. That’s absolutely out of the scope intended here.

Not to hijack the thread, but for those who are interested, today I will be muxing an mkv of the 1981 version of the film to post on the spleen. In case you want that version, but not necessarily the whole BD disc I’m authoring with all the bells and whistles.

It is as most of you know based on Towne32’s regrade as a base with a few select scenes and sequences regraded by me and my 1981 crawl/flyover spliced into the beginning.

Yeah sure, saw your comment that Harmys composite-shots would remain untouched 😃
As for pure gout shots, how about this one? (In case you go back in, that is 😉 ) https://plus.google.com/photos/+HarmyDespecialized/albums/5932164278535972945/5932164730720724962?pid=5932164730720724962&oid=109609428403596349302

Can’t recall how badly it was affected by the DVNR in motion, don’t have access to De-ED at the moment.

Well, I’ve broken the composite rule a few times now. I guess it depends on the main focus of the shot or how badly the GOUT impacts the shot.

That one I can’t do anything about due to the wipes before and after and how very severely the flanking shots are degraded by switching to SSE.

You’re more than welcome to post here, especially since I started this project by posting in your thread!

If you hadn’t read, Harmy has been kind enough to allow me to call my next release a Despecialized 2.6 the way he did for Laserschwert with ESB 2.1 essentially.

Not to stifle your impending upload. But if you want to wait for that version it will have all the upgrades we’re discussing here and might make things less confusing for people.

As is, I’ll already need to explain that what was to be Recolorized 1.2 (DeED 2.5) is now DeED 2.6 (Towne32) in both branching BD and MKV versions for both crawls. It would be great to have your Proper 1981 crawl version on top of all that. But it would be easier for folks to follow, I think, if you could call it 2.6 (1981) or something instead of something like: Towne 32’s Recolorized (V1) version of Harmy’s 2.5 but with replaced crawl. 😃 Since the V1 is going to be out of date and the nomenclature altered thanks to Harmy’s generosity. But if you actually don’t like some of the features of the next version, then by all means do as you’re doing. Just trying to avoid confusing people.

I can stick with calling my crawl ANH, and you can stick with 1981, to be accurate on that note.

Ok, gotcha! Those pesky wipes always causing trouble! ;P

Well damn.

The image quality on the shot of Luke and the purple sky is nice enough for an upgrade. But the shot is messy. Dirt, tramline scratches, flickering. It has the light leak problem, but it doesn’t matter much since 3PO has some lens flare going on anyway.

I’ll take a quick look at it to see if anything can be done, but I don’t know.

Edit: It’s tempting, mostly to sharpen up the boundary between Luke and the background, but I think I’m going to pass on this one. Great suggestion, though.

Will you be putting an MKV on the Spleen as well or just the Blu-ray?

Author

Thank you Towne! Is it possible to remux it to a MKV file? How can i debranch the crawl options?

Author

An MKV would certainly be appreciated at least on my end 😃 I’m interested in checking out the your BD for the seamless branching alone, but an MKV is definitely easier to work with :p

Excellent! Downloading now!

For people asking about the MKV:

Yep, I’ll do them. I need to re-encode because I upped the bitrate for the BD m2ts. If you’re in a hurry, you can see if you can mux them yourself. I don’t know how muxxing sequential M2ts files works, or if it does. The big m2ts is the movie after the crawl, and two of the other smaller ones are the different crawls.

What crawl would you want first?

DLucas: If you want it mainly to grab the color for your encode, get the BD since the bitrate is higher. 😃

I’d prefer the original 1977 crawl in MKV form. 😃

Thank you guys for your amazing job, harmy & towne32!! 😃

Said that, I’d like to report an audio glitch in the STAR WARS_DeEd_v2.5 (spanish castilian, audio track) that was already reported in the DEEd Quality control thread, and sadly was not read or ignored.
(Please guys no offense in this, I write this with my best intentions)

I’m afraid this “glitch” it’s included in SW Deed 2.6 and I think it should be considered for future preservation releases.

During the trash compactor scene there’s a moment where the audio swithches to Latin Spanish, and then after 3 minutes it changes again to Spanish Castilian.

1:16:44 ----> 1:19:46

Some time ago a member of this forum, i think it was Catbus, told me that this audio change maybe was donde because during that scene in the castilian spanish edition there was some background music not present in the original theatrical version, (it’s the same music when C3P0 and R2 are inside the Jawas transport) Sounds weird but it’s true, and that’s why that scene was replaced with that latin spanish dub fragment.

The 1995 VHS and laser disc versions have that background music but GOUT R2 DVD doesn’t

If anyone wants the entire spanish catilian ac3 audio without the latino part (from the R2 GOUT DVD, it’s the same version that contains the german dub) just send me a PM.

I always watch SW in english, but nostalgia makes me sad, when I watch that particular scene and I notice the change of the voices-…

It is it posible to include the full track in the blu-ray? with tsmuxer or a similar sofware?

Hah, yeah. Thanks for bringing more attention to that track.

I’m going to build an MKV with the new and improved track, so don’t worry about that. You can try to get the muxing working if you really want a branching BD, but I think it’s probably not worth the time. And the menu will be lying about what the track is. 😃

Thanks a lot for this.

I’m pretty sure I know the answer, but I want to confirm before I delete.
This release basically deprecates both “Star Wars Harmy 2.5 Recolorized” and “DeEdv2.5”, yes?

I guess the other 2 I mentioned are MKV’s and this one is BD, but I think I can play the BD format just as well with VLC or whatever media player, so I should be fine on that front.

VLC doesn’t seem to be playing nicely with this for me (it does not like Blu-rays with menus). I did my testing on PS4, PS3, PowerDVD, and Total Media Theatre. Your vlc may be set up better than mine, though.

You can definitely watch the m2ts files in VLC. But everything up to and through the crawl is a separate m2ts. So you’d need to click the next one when it’s done, or make a playlist or something. Or wait for an MKV. 😃

How about MPC HC?

THE SUN RACES THROUGH A BLUE SKY FILLED WITH WHITE CLOUDS.

Looks like it works perfectly! Plays ANH by default but you can select playlist through the drop menu to 0001, which will be SW. No menu support, of course.

You can have seamless branching in MKV. I’m not sure how but it can be done - I once experimentally downloaded a couple of episodes of ST TOS and they were MKVs where you could choose which version to watch and it played perfectly smoothly in MPC HC and I’m pretty sure it wasn’t that the whole video was muxed in twice.

Cool. I think I’ve seen people mention it before so that does sound right.

In this case, I’m just going to mux the standard version with your SW crawl just to make sure compatibility is high and no one has any problems. If people want an ANH version, we will see. But Darth Lucas will be doing a version with your 1981 crawl, Harmy, so there might not even be any need.

I wish the original 1977 crawl in MKV please. Thanks towne32 for your work!
