One of the worst things about the prequels is that every Joe out there has a lightsaber.

You mean every Jedi Joe? Why wouldn’t they all have lightsabers? They’re Jedi!

What I mean to say is there are just so many g-dd-mn lightsabers because there are so many g-dd-mn Jedi. I know it’s a big galaxy, but force-sensitivity still seems to be too wide-spread in the PT. In the OT, it’s mystical. There are five force users in the entire galaxy: Ben, Yoda, Luke, Vader, and the Emperor. In the PT, you have 100 Jedi killing robots and you’re like A) is being a Jedi really that hard? and B) Are they really held in that high esteem, if they’re being contracted to kill robots? It just dilutes the notion of Jedi.

I’m not a PT apologist by any means but some of your argument is flawed. You’re complaining about 100 Jedi in a galaxy of trillions of people, that still makes them a pretty rare class/type of person, wouldn’t you think? And regarding the Jedi being respected, need I remind you who got the Jedi to fight? Palpatine. Someone who obviously hates the Jedi and is using his paper tigers to make the Jedi obsolete and eventually extinct. Maybe it’s not as clear as it should be, but I can see it.

It’s 10,000 Jedi actually.

Still, that’s an absurdly low number. My own home town – which is rather modest-sized, I might add – has more people in it.

My home town had less than 1,000 people and one sheriff, with only one Jedi serving as his deputy.

The Person in Question

I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot the Jedi.

If the Jedi were allowed to get their freak on, maybe there would be more of them? 😉

Aside from the “welcoming all” part…

I’ve heard about the Shakers before, but the comparison never occurred to me.

Did they welcome murderers? How about the devil?

The Sith, and Palpatine in particular, would like a word.

I did buy the R2-D2 French Vanilla creamer. I was getting creamer anyways.

Meh. The only one of those I’d call truly disturbing is the drink with the egg inside.

It would make more sense as a Alien tie in. 😉

I like this except I would have Photoshopped the robes to white.

Sorry to change the subject, but this my random thought since I saw the movie last. Ill preface it with a question first, because you all are gonna think Im an idiot for even bringing this up. Other than the movie, the book perhaps, where else has it been said that Kylo trained with Luke? Ill follow up with my thought after an answer or two. My thought will hinge on your answers.

Pretty sure the film and it’s novelization are the only sources you can cite to say that Ben Solo trained with Luke.

With that said, what does the novel say? Not paraphrasing, but exactly? The reason I ask, is for some odd reason, I found the dialogue between Han and Leia a bit ambiguous. Ealrier in the movie, Han only says that a young boy betrayed Luke. He doesnt specify by name. Perhaps he was emabarrassed because it was Ben, IDK. But the dialogue between Han and Leia sounds as if Leia is arguing that she wanted to send Ben to Luke, but then shows regret in her next sentence for sending him elsewhere, or away. If he did indeed go to train with Luke, how would Snoke had access to have seduced Ben?
Thats why Im asking specifically what the novel says. I dont think Ben ever trained with Luke. I think he was sent away somewhere else by Han and Leia and was seduced by Snoke. Im probably wrong and reading too much into it.

Leia says in both film and novelization

“That’s why I wanted him to train with Luke,” Leia said. “I just never should have sent him away. That’s when I lost him. When I lost you both.”

This quote is a bit confusing at first but I think I understand it. Leia initially wanted to send Ben to train with Luke because she sensed him having trouble with the Dark Side. But actually sending him away only exacerbated the problem due to reasons we don’t know.

Yeh, I agree with you. Its not quite as B&W as it sounds. The word wanted can be interpreted more than one way. “Wanted” e.g. want, but didnt get, or “Wanted” want, and got. Id say youre more than likely right. Thats the way I took it first time around.
