Harmy has stated in the past when I asked that if somebody can supply him with good quality audio, he would be willing to do it. It’s been a while since he said that though so maybe his mind has changed.

All you’d need is the Theatrical DTS CD audio and the 97 Laserdisc audio (5.1 and 2.0).

On spleen there is now DTS audio with a sample 97SE synched video (low quality). So I think it’s a matter of having time to put it all together. Especially for Jedi, as some rotoscoping will be needed.

Previously, he used DJ’s sync for ANH, so it was a matter of waiting for the other two films to be done by someone. But now there’s the synchronization on myspleen, so no need to rely on another source or the attitude associated with said source.

Hello, I’m new on the forum.
First of all: The Harmy’s work on Despecialized editions it’s wonderful! Took me a lot to download them, but when I saw the films was incredible!
Second: I have 97’ SE on VHS, but I don’t have the VCR to see. So, I wanna download Harmy Respecialized, but I can`t found any link to download them. Any help will be very appreciated.
Sorry about my English, I’m from Argentina!
Thanks a lot to Harmy and all people on this forums!

Do. Or do not. There is no try…

Download links aren’t allowed here, so that’s why you can’t find them. This should be available in the same places that Despecialized is.

Army of Darkness: The Medieval Deadit | The Terminator - Color Regrade | The Wrong Trousers - Audio Preservation
SONIC RACES THROUGH THE GREEN FIELDS.
THE SUN RACES THROUGH A BLUE SKY FILLED WITH WHITE CLOUDS.
THE WAYS OF HIS HEART ARE MUCH LIKE THE SUN. SONIC RUNS AND RESTS; THE SUN RISES AND SETS.
DON’T GIVE UP ON THE SUN. DON’T MAKE THE SUN LAUGH AT YOU.

You can find them on MySpleen, tehparadox, and if you don’t have an invite for the former and don’t want to do the latter, someone has uploaded it to a public tracker so you can find it on a torrent site that “kicks ass.”

Wow, thanks for the fast answer Density! I will look for them on TheParadox!

Yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised if this one isn’t as easy to find on public trackers. A bit more niche interest and the public isn’t exactly known for seeding. 😃

Yes, the torrent doesn’t work in my PC, so, I’m downloading trough the links of the guide

Are there respecialized versions of Empire Strikes Back and Return of The Jedi VHS works as well?

The SW 97 Special Edition is the only VHS set I have left in my media collection. I’ve refrained from purchasing further SW sets, especially the new “official” bluray sets that added such weird changes - it would awesome to simply have the 97 editions on bluray alonside the Despecialized versions. I was going to try straight converting the VHS films to bluray myself, but I’m afraid of ruining it so it would be far more ideal to download these instead.

K, that doesn’t answer my question. A simple Yes or No - as far as I can see, there is only a New Hope at the moment?

ANH is the only one that’s out and we support buying the main sources of fan restorations which, in the case of despecialized, is the 2011 blu-ray. If that’s not your personal version of what’s morally right (you do own the VHS at least), the least you could do is not advertise DeSP being on your shelf but not the 2011 blu-ray. Harmy would appreciate that as well and why not be respectful to him and the community, if not Lucasfilm and Disney.

You need to answer the forum’s question of Do you own the SW Blu Rays? You’ve already answered NO so you shouldn’t be obtaining any of these projects. You obviously ignored that link. There is only A New Hope available but you admitted you don’t own the Blu Rays so you shouldn’t even have that one.

Well I apologize for the snark, but the original reply had its own level of that IMO. Being new on here, I did not realize the strict ruling, but its understandable since others (and LucasFilm) did the heavy work.

So in fairness, YES, I have purchased the Bluray once (in 2015), but gave it away (not resale) if that counts - in any case, LucasFilm got my money. At least I’m being honest right? In my possession currently I retained the VHS and DVD sets.

Anyways, thanks for answering the question with ANH being the one for now. Are the other ones being ReSpecalized? If not, I think may just end up trying to convert the VHS I have for ESB and RoTJ in the mean time.

It’s not really clear if there are plans. Since the vast majority of the 97SE films are available in HD quality via 2004/2011 versions, and the very few pre-2004 elements are now available as 35mm, it would make sense to wait until he begins work on the 1080p 3.0 series.

Thanks. Still getting up to speed as I read through about these releases. The 3.0 is a starting pointing for a ‘new’ DeSpecialized though, correct?

Yes. The 2.x series which respecialized came from is limited to 720p.

I would totally support Respecialized versions of TESB and RotJ. Even though I’m most familiar with the original releases, there’s something intriguing about the '97 versions. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever seen them fully. I really hope Harmy decides to do it! However I know a tremendous amount of work is required for these things.

Are there any mistakes/inaccuracies in SW Respecialized or is it pretty much complete?

Well actually I don’t think it would be very hard at all. If I remember correctly Harmy did SW Respecialized in like a day right? The only tough thing was waiting for a good source for 97 Jabba.

However, I think Harmy is focusing on empire 2.5 right now, then he’ll probably move right on to the despecialized 3.0 trilogy. I suspect if respecialized ESB and ROTJ are to be done, it will be I imagine done by someone else, or saved until after 3.0 comes out.

As for mistakes or inaccuracies, the color is definitely off from what was seen in 97, but that’s pretty much it.

I think, seeing as how much more footage from the BD will be left in than in Despecialized, it makes more sense to make the Respecialized from v3.0 at full HD.

I know this is a dumb question with a simple answer, but:

What is the Team Blu version mentioned in the OP? I’ve only been around on the forum for a few months and am unaware of this version. What other releases has this Team Blu put out? Didn’t they do a GOUT upscale?

I think I remember saying this in another thread, but a respecialized ROTJ would be almost identical to the HDTV SE. I’m pretty sure the only changes between the 1997 and 2004 versions are ghost Hayden, the Naboo shot in the celebration montage, and the insertion of the Jedi temple from the PT in the background of the Coruscant shot.

As for ESB, Adywan’s 1997 reconstruction does the trick.

Would you happen to have a link (to its forum page if it exists) handy? I’ve tried searching for it but I can’t find it.
