So are these still only going up on Myspleen? I managed to find the older despecialized editions on another site but I am doubtful I’ll have the same luck with rotj 2.5. Since Myspleen seems to not be doing invites anymore, anyone have any advice for someone who wants to get this but doesn’t already have an account? Seems like the game has changed and it’s a lot harder for new people now 😦

EDIT: lol just saw those posts. Guess I should look into utoz, unless it’s just as hard to get into?

I’m in the same boat. Everything I have so far was from tehparadox. Will ROTJ 2.5 be available there or will I need an invite to Myspleen?

Like I said to the other guy, it actually ends up there first, before myspleen. So you’re set.

Putting the finishing touches on the last couple of things I wanted to do for ROTJ v2.5 - now I’ll have to put them into the cut and render the whole thing out - hopefully I’ll have enough time to do that today and render over-night.
One last thing I’m missing (I thought I had this but can’t find it) is the 1993 LD commentary. Does anybody have this? And ideally, I’d love it if someone would be willing to make me one like I always made for the other movies - with the silences filled with the '93 stereo mix.

Harmy, the LD commentary is in my LD Audio archive on myspleen. It’s in lossless form there. I have it posted as a LCR wav file with the 1993 Audio mix in the Left and Right channels ducked during the talking portions, and the commentary in the Center channel. You can get that from myspleen or I can send you an ac3.

If I had some gum, I’d chew a hole into the sun…

I guess I missed that! Thanks for the info!

I already got it from CatBus, but thanks 😃

Watching it now (thank god for the commentary tracks - keep it interesting even when watching the movie 4th time in a month) 40 minutes in and I already found this weird bug, where during one shot it keeps flashing images from another shot but that’s the kind of thing that I can fix using an avisynth script during encoding, so for now I haven’t found anything that would require re-rendering the whole movie.

Sorry, Lucas–I don’t teach your special editions (but I am including Revenge of the Sith this semester, cuz Milton).

Milton the toast making robot?

I don’t mean to clog the thread, but on the recent subject of spleen invites, I was lucky enough to get an account during a couple of months that they had free registration going. This was after I had been lurking here and was so confused as to what the whole invite thing was, and just went to the website.

Haha!

The reason I’m showing Revenge of the Sith alongside Paradise Lost is Lucas and Milton’s shared aversion to monarchy and their treatment of republicanism (the political theory, not the American political party, of course).

And, of course, Padme/Anakin are Adam/Eve type characters, and Anakin/Palpatine/Jabba are all Satanic characters.

Makes sense. Though I’d suggest showing them the film with Rifftrax commentary, it’ll go down easier (even if it’ll muddle the message a bit).

It’s a shame that even one prequel is going to be shown to those poor students, and I agree about the Rifftrax. I guess they are Satanic. Afterall, the stupid title crawl does state that “Evil is everywhere.” Although, in actuality, it was really only in one place, but whatever, it’s GL we’re talking about.

It’s really sad when the “creative minds” behind something we hold dear are also guilty of its destruction.

The prequels were abysmal, but their story was ambitious. I’ll be cleansing the palate with Return of the Jedi later, so don’t worry. Besides, Revenge of the Sith is incredibly Miltonic, so I have to teach it in a class on Milton and Star Wars.

EDIT: The special editions disappoint me more than the prequels ever could, because they worsened those films, especially ANH and ROTJ.

I’ve been mostly lurking here for a bit, and have read enough to know not to beg for a MySpleen invite. I got SW 2.5, ESB 2.0 and RotJ 1.0 off public trackers, and have been very happy with them. I don’t need to get this right away, but if anyone could offer some advice over PM how best to get it once the initial rush quiets down, I’d appreciate it. Thanks.

Yeah when I started this process of learning about Harmy’s editions back in November (I still can’t believe I was living under a rock all this time), I realized that MySpleen wasn’t going to happen either. So I followed the alternate download instructions (checked a couple of youtube videos before doing it) and jumped in headfirst into tehparadox.com using jdownloader2. It definitely was a learning curve, but in just a few nights I had my first printable dual layer DVD - then I had to buy a new printer too. Now I’ve got a new laptop, a BD burner, and some new downloads to make. I can’t wait!! We (as a family) are so thankful for all the work Harmy has put into this project.

I just don’t believe “higher learning” and “prequel” should be in the same train of thought, but to each their own.

I’m rendering ROTJ v2.5 right now - ETA 10hrs. But I made so many changes since the last workprint and the project file got so big and complicated that I’m sure when I watch it, I will find that I forgot to turn some layer on or off or something stupid like that and will probably have to re-render but I have everything else ready, so currently, the intended release date is this Sunday.

Crap. I’m giving Star Wars DE to my Dad for his birthday on Sunday. Are you sure you can’t make it Saturday?

Jeez, dude, really?

Harmy, it’s my dad’s birthday too. Can you fly to the States and hand deliver ROTJ 2.5 to him?

Just wanted to give a big thanks to all who have contributed to making these fine despecialized editions.
I recently showed my 10 year old daughter these for the first time, and she loved them😃 RotJ is her favourite.
She wanted more of course, so I showed her the prequel trilogy. She liked them too, but ranks them below the OT.
All is well.
Looking forward to RotJ 2.5, and my daughter can’t wait to see Force Awakens😃

Awesome work. Much respect from an old SW fan.

I’ll see what I can do about the cakes guys, but ROTJ is definitely not gonna be done for at least another couple of weeks, if I have to bake two cakes and personally deliver them across the pond.

Can you despecialize this cake for me while you’re at it?

But can you leave in the candles that were added in the cake’s re-release? Because that’s how I first saw the cake.
