The complaint about the two-seated TIE Fighter might be the nit pick to end all nit picks…

Fair. I just wish even a bedridden but conscious Finn having a proper goodbye with Rey. Their friendship is such a driving force in the movie that I would have enjoyed that–temporary–closure. At least they have two more movies. And yes, that was supposed to be “is.”

I do understand all the plot retread criticisms, but as pointed out in that Austin Walker piece several pages back Abrams and Co did enough different with the material to yield fresh–and dare I say more interesting–results.

Well clearly you aren’t an engineer and certified TIE pilot like impscum.

I think it was deliberate that there wasn’t closure. or at least if it was an accident, it turns out good that there isn’t closure. It specifically means there is unfinished business, and that Rey has to reunite with Finn. This lack of closure actually reinforces their shared destiny, if not their emotional narrative specifically.

Strangely the Two-Seater-TIE is not a problem for me, it seems to be a (nearly) realistic development.

But TIEs can NOT stand on the solar panels! Never ever.
They are to fragile to hold the weight of the TIE.
They would be damaged just by standing around.

And TIEs, even the FO-TIEs do NOT have a repulsorlift, so they can not land and start like verticalliy. For that reason the solar panels would be damaged while landing horizontally. Atmospheric flight of TIEs is another problem, but landing on the panels is rubbish.

In the short anime film “TIE-Fighter” you can see how TIEs work.

Ah. Spoke to a TIE engineer about that?

Again, none of the vehicles in any of these movies make sense. It’s fine. They’re there to look awesome.

EDIT: I want to impress I’m not arguing “It’s a dumb movie! Turn your brain off!” If you have plot or character issues, sure, criticize those as many others have. But any argument regarding the accuracy of ships or technology in this universe is rigged to implode before it’s even posited. Star Wars is not hard sci fi. It was never meant to be and unless Rian Johnson takes a hard left turn it never will be. Lightsabers don’t make sense. Lightspeed doesn’t make sense. The Death Stars would be next to impossible to build and power. And yeah, those TIEs probably wouldn’t be able to maintain their structural integrity while positioned on their solar panels. And that’s fine. Sometimes–a lot of times–it’s nice to have a ship that just looks cool. Complaining about this stuff here, in regards to The Force Awakens specifically, is dishonest and inconsistent.

The ships themselves are not plausible, but the writers should have looked at it logically. And honestly, the way they work in that short film is both way cooler, and makes more sense than what TFA did. The “cool ship” argument is fair, but the TIEs are far less “cool” when you portray them like that, in comparison to the short.

Yeah i did!

And by the way… There is a technical manual, u know. Cross-sections, technology etc.
This is a official Disney thing.

And it has the two-seater-TIE in it. And the named every cable, every thing like the engines and the weapon system. And well, there is no repulsorlift in it. Some other ships and vehicles have it.

If there was no official technical manual for TFA this TIE details would be not interesting to me.

But there is one and the film is not accurate to it.

Okay if you want to make fun i go home and be quiet.

Otherwise… In every film or game the TIEs are hanging from the ceeling.
Even in the new battlefront it is like that.

Don’t you mean the book is not accurate to the film?

I would say the film wasn’t accurate because every single thing in the past has used that setup, EU or not.

Rebels introduced TIEs parked this way, before TFA did.

Those technical manuals have never been the most accurate of things. It’s just someone making stuff up basically, and they don’t always represent what is seen on screen.

I was just a joke.

We actually only saw TIE Bombers hanging onscreen in ROTJ.

The Rebels series has shown TIE’s standing on their solar panels.

Rebels is shit, so it is not really a good reference.

On top of that, I think several EU sources introduced that concept way before.

Yeah, in most depictions, it looks as if TIE fighters are not capable of atmospheric flight - only in space close close to a mothership.

Yet, at the end of ESB when the Falcon escapes Cloud City, it is pursued by TIE Fighters. Those TIE fighters must have had repulsors or they would not be able to fly there. (or the pilots would have had to fly with the engines angled towards the ground)

Rebels is shit

And that pertains to the topic how?

How about stop cutting things out of a sentence and read it as a whole before making such stupid question?

The rest of the sentence doesn’t change a damn thing. Just because you find the show to be shit doesn’t mean anything because it’s not a canon reference. Furthermore, the spaces between these two statements

indicate (to me at least) that these are separate points. I was completely warranted in leaving out the latter sentence.

You were warranted to leave out latter sentence, however you were not warranted to leave out half of the former, which is the point here.

Even then you not liking Rebels doesn’t mean anything when it’s a valid reference because it’s canon. It doesn’t matter if I included it or not because I can say the same thing to both statements.

I couldn’t care less about canon. Let me remind you what this argument is all about. My statement was my opinion and it had to do with the topic, while you implied it doesn’t pertain to the topic by quoting only a part of the sentence and asking a stupid question.

So again, justifying the use of stupid concept in TFA based on the fact that the same stupid concept was used in shit show like Rebels (canon or not) is not really a good justification.
