I thought they did a great job at casting especially when it comes to Daisy Ridley. Who would have thought that such an unknown would give such a great performance.
I thought she was quite ‘wooden’ very much like prequel characters but each to their own, must be difficult acting to thin air though.

Didn’t Daisy herself say JJ had criticised her at first? I also remember reading an article quoting Peter Mayhew saying he thought she was wooden at first but loosened up.
I definitely thought she was quite wooden in the first half of the film; several friends said the same. The scene on the freighter where she and Finn were running from the rathtars, where she puts her hand over her mouth, being the most cringeworthy example of this – school play level.
That’s not to say she didn’t adequately carry herself in other scenes. There did seem to be an improvement in her acting as the film progressed.

Pretty sure he was talking about the population at large. Just about everyone and their grandmother thinks Daisy can act her ass off. Also there were negative reviews of ESB so a few lonely contrarians doesn’t really amount to much.

In her defense has anyone been able to do that convincingly? Because whenever someone does that in a game/movie/show it always takes me out of the experience.
Also if that’s the worst example of her “wooden” acting that shows how good of a performance she gave because the seemingly worse thing she did is a million times better than all of the cringe worthy shit Hayden pulled off in both of his performances.
Films are not shot in chronological order. She was great throughout.

I feel like those who are being super critical of the score either haven’t experienced as many repeat viewings as we who really dug the movie or else weren’t interested enough to really live with the soundtrack for a while after Disney put it on YouTube. Now that I’m very familiar with it, I realize there’s so much more going on than one viewing can convey. There are at least five new themes that I couldn’t get out of my head if I wanted to. It’s definitely a score that rewards continued listening.
